Developing and managing the future of apartment living
November 2015
Dear FJG Family,
The Thanksgiving holiday allows me to take the time and reflect on the things I am most grateful for. Among the many, I am primarily thankful for our talented group of team members. Thank you for the hard work you do to make The Franklin Johnston Group remarkable. Without your commitment, creativity, and high standards, we would not be the thriving company we are today. I wish you and your family a Thanksgiving filled with abundance, cheer and bright moments.

Sincerely,

Taylor Franklin

Friendsgiving
Ah, Thanksgiving, such an amazing time of year that rounds out the end of fall and ushers in the Christmas season! Friends at TFJG gathered together for a special way of giving thanks.
The HR Department organized a Thanksgiving potluck for the team members in the corporate office to enjoy. Everyone brought a dish to the party and the day was spent enjoying the food and being thankful for each other.

Spring Water in Virginia Beach, VA had a special pre-thanksgiving. The party consisted of lots of delicious food and fun. Community Manager, Gabrielle Baldwin said "The Spring Water Team is thankful for each other and their incredible culinary skills".
A Time to Give Thanks
Gables Court apartments in Peachtree City had a special way of giving "thanks" to their residents. The team raffled off five turkeys! During this time of thanks, they were able to get two sponsors: Deborah Clemons from XFinity and Maryann Groves of Braelinn World Travel Services. Deborah sponsored two family gift baskets including everything to feed a family of four members and Maryann donated a cookie basket and a gift card. Gables Court mentioned how thankful they are for each and everyone of their residents.
It is not happy people who are thankful; it is thankful people who are happy!
2015 Virginia Governor's Housing Conference
The Franklin Johnston Group was a proud sponsor at the 2015 Virginia Governor's Housing Conference (VGHC) in Hampton, VA. The conference was filled with plenary sessions that help prepare for today's challenges, tomorrow's opportunities, and the future's creation of healthy communities.
Bobby Justice, resident of North Pointe Apartments in Danville, VA received this year's Outstanding Youth Award at the VA Housing Awards Luncheon at VGHC. Justice was selected due to his exemplary commitment and service to his community, including his participation in school, church, and volunteer activities. Justice has balanced these activities while also being supportive of his family, including helping to raise his younger brother while his single mother was fighting multiple sclerosis.
Congratulations, Bobby Justice for going beyond the ordinary.
Equi-Kids Stall Ball
Equi-Kids hosted their biggest fundraising event of the year on November 21st called the "Stall Ball". Our team members volunteered the night before the event to get the barn and arena transformed.
Melissa Pullin enjoyed volunteering. She said, "It was great to know that helping setup for their biggest fundraising event would assist in the impact that the organization has on the community and children's live. In helping, what typically would take well over a day's work, they were able to be finished that same day. It was pretty awesome to see the horses and to interact with them while decorating the stables."
Founded in 1989, Equi-Kids Therapeutic Riding Program has grown to become one of the largest accredited equine riding programs in the country benefiting the special needs community. Their therapeutic riding program enables their students to experience a world without disabilities.

A resident recently visited the leasing office at The Abbey/Devon in South Riding to hand deliver a letter to Alex Robles. When he opened the letter, it was to thank him for being so polite and for always having a warm greeting. The letter had six gift cards to different places around the area. Way to go, Alex!

HRAC Game Show
The Hampton Roads Apartment Association had their 2015 HRAC Trade Show. Tonya Duley, Community Manager at Independence Square said, "The HRAC Trade show was an exciting night full of networking, games, and fun. The game show theme allowed us to show off our creativity by creating 'price is right' matching t-shirts. We met a lot of new faces, as well as faces I have known for years. The trade show is a lot of fun and allows for the change to learn about new products.
