Good Morning!
Youth Leadership 2016

Lexington High Leadership/Renaissance Team joined the Chamber of Commerce in sponsoring a Community Career Day on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 for the LHS Leadership Students.  The objective of this project is to promote and recognize the various opportunities available to LHS students after high school graduation or college graduation.  Our community is one of Hope and this career day is to educate LHS Students about many community opportunities which are available to them.

Staying connected with our local businesses is important. Keeping our high school leaders informed of opportunities, here in their home town, is imperative to the growth of both the student and our community. Students toured the Henderson County Community Hospital and listened to two presentations about healthcare career opportunities and current initiatives taking place in rural healthcare. Students then toured the Henderson County Courthouse and listened to presentations about county government administration.
Thanks to the hospital and to the Henderson County Court House employees for taking time to let us know more about the day to day operations in these areas of our City/County.

We appreciate Mrs. Kim Douglass', Executive Director of the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce, dedication in working with Lexington High School, especially with LHS Renaissance.  Also, a special thanks to Mr. Jason Rushing, the GEAR-UP Coordinator, for providing transportation for this project.

USEFUL TIPS FOR SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS/MANAGERS

Creating a positive business climate in 'stormy' times.

In a 'real storm', people seek shelter until the 'storm' is over and many times forget to take action to stay ahead of the 'storm'. Here is a tip regarding what actions to take before the 'storm'.

If you are doing nothing because you think it will not get worse, the patterns from the past prove that it usually does, i.e. 'Murphy's Law'. to take NO ACTION spawns a pattern of victimization and leads to only reacting to worse instead of better times.

If you would like more information about this topic or to discuss your business needs, a FREE and CONFIDENTIAL visit with Ron Acree or Joel Newman at the TN Small Business Development Center, (JSCC), may be helpful. Contact the Chamber office at (731)968-2126 to schedule an appointment during the date of their monthly visit. This business counseling is offered as an additional service of YOUR Chamber of Commerce.
Let's work together to make things happen here in Henderson County!
