Deb Taylor,
C.R.N.P.
We are very pleased to have Deb  working as a volunteer with our clinical group. Deb has a BSN from York College of PA and a MSN/FNP from Widener University.
She has been married for 35 years to Bill Taylor with 3 children and 5 1/2 grandchildren (one is on the way). Currently she is employed at White Rose OB/GYN.  The patients absolutely love Deb and she always greets them and her colleagues with a great big smile.

Thank you so much Deb for helping Katallasso to reach beyond healthcare!

Kathy Jacoby
has been a faithful volunteer from the beginning and keeps track of our medical inventory.  She does her job in a very meticulous manner while checking dates on medications and tracking all supplies on a bi-weekly basis.
She definitely makes life easier on the core staff and keeps us in line.  Thank you so much Kathy for the job you do!!

1000 Patient Visits...WOW!

In early July through the doors of Katallasso walked Reyna (pictured with co-founders Brian and Duane) who was our 1000th visit since we opened last year!  What a milestone for the center to be celebrated!  And we did.  At this point Katallasso has conducted over 1100 visits and has served over 530 different health care clients.

That's Impact!
Impact of the Quarter

Kristopher is a young man we recently had the privilege of meeting with newly diagnosed hypertension.  He has not been able to hold a job as he has suffered from tiredness, headaches and generally not feeling well. He had gone to apply for employment with a delivery company and found during the physical examination that he had a BP of 189/109. It remained elevated through follow up evaluations and he was referred to Katallasso. Given that he had no insurance and no ability to receive health care, he was elated to have an opportunity to come to the center for evaluation and care. As we shared our time together, it became quickly apparent that he was a man no different than any other man. He long desires to be valued, care for his family, love his children and provide hope and opportunity for his family. Those hopes that he shared have been challenged recently by his inability to provide as he saw fit. He was questioning his worth and true value as a man in our culture.

We had a healthy conversation regarding his concerns and hurts, his true design and how he is valued as a man that God created; not the lie of what society wants him to believe. As he was encouraged to find a true hope and his true identity, he shared how this health care visit is far more than what he expected! We shared some more, encouraged some more and prayed our time to completion. As he left, he said that he never realized that God cares for him as much as he does. Part of how he knows how much God cares is by how much Katallasso showed that love to him. Oh yes, and by the way, he was started on medication for blood pressure through reduced cost at a local retailer and his follow up BP checks have been ranging 130/80. He is feeling much better physically, emotionally and on his way spiritually.

That's Reaching Beyond Healthcare!

A New Addition....

We are excited to welcome Linda Gilgore to the center in our newly created Operations Manager role.  Linda comes to us with a very distinguished professional background in the areas of medical data management and team building.  On top of her professional background she is also involved with both the Family Advisory Council and the Serious Event Review Team at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital.  She is also a key volunteer for the Children's Miracle Network at the Hospital.  Linda is currently council President at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, York.  Her passion for urban ministry is inspiring.  We are so pleased to add Linda to our staff!

Katallasso Family Health Festival

We could not have asked for a more beautiful day for the annual Katallasso/Salem Square Health Festival.   This year we broke all records...Over 185 people attended this years festival.  We conducted 27 rapid HIV tests, 56 hearing screenings (30 adult, 27 children) and 30 adult vision screenings.  We found issues that were not known to the client beforehand on a couple of occasions.  We had great participation from the professional community and were able to present to our clients 17 different stations.  Wow, what a day!  Can't wait 'til next year!

That's Kat Impact!

Giving to Katallasso through Payroll Deduction...No Way!?

Did you know that as part of your workplace United Way Campaign you can give to Katallasso Open hand raised Please Donate sign painted multi purpose concept - isolated on white background Family Health Center through payroll deduction?  It's true.  No, Katallasso is not a United Way agency but you CAN designate your funds to go to Katallasso.  There is a block that will ask you if you want to designate funds...you choose this block and then type in Katallasso Family Health Center.  United Way deducts a small management fee and sends Katallasso the funds.  It's just that easy.
Thank you for considering supporting Katallasso in this way!
