Your 2016 member renewal statement will be arriving soon.  They are being sent both in hard copy and via email.  Renewals can be either paid online or by sending a check or credit card info to the KHC office. Your $1,000,000 personal liability policy and other benefits expire 12/31/15.

The Kansas Horse Council has had a very productive year.  Thank you to each member and to all the folks that have been a part of this success. Thanks for your passion and belief in the value of promoting and protecting horses. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to everyone. I wish for you a bucket full of laughter and memories made in 2015.

Annual Kansas Horse Council Meeting
January 30th, 2016 at the Capital Plaza Hotel, Topeka

The KHC annual meeting has for many years been held each February during EquiFest, but the 2016 meeting will be held from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30th at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Topeka.  All members are invited to attend. 
A light lunch will be provided along with presentation of the Bud Newell Award, election of board members, recognition of volunteers and a tour of the Kansas Expocentre where EquiFest will be held Feb. 26-28. Please contact the KHC office to RSVP, 785-776-0662 or email Anna at the KHC office. 

You will also be receiving an electronic invitation in early December. There is no fee to attend this event.
New Item on Annual Statements
When your 2016 annual statement arrives it will have a new item listed.  Please notice that you can now make a tax deductible donation to the Kansas Horse Council Foundation at the same time your renew your membership.

The KHC Foundation is a 501c3 entity that has awarded over $80,000 since 2003.  Most of those funds have been raised through a silent auction held each year at EquiFest of Kansas.  Also, thanks to the generosity of the Weary Family Foundation $4000 will be added to this years' scholarship fund.

KHC Region IV Member Event
January 9th at the Prairie Rose Chuckwagon in Benton, KS, 1 to 3 p.m.

All KHC members and guests are invited to attend a special event featuring equine attorney, Denise Farris of Farris Law Firm LLC, identified by Equus magazine as a "National Leader in Equine Law."
Denise will share her expertise regarding equine ownership legal issues including:  premise liability and use of waivers, boarding disputes, hot topics from attendees such as trailer hauling liabilities, the Volunteer Protection Act and the Recreational Land Use Statute. 
Refreshments will be provided. Plus, if you bring a guest who joins KHC your name will be put in a drawing for a special prize.

Specialty Equine License Plates
593 specialty equine plates sold in first 11 months!

Since January 1 st, 2015, when specialty equine license plates went on sale, 593 plates have been sold! The Kansas Horse Council will use proceeds from tag sales to encourage and promote the development of the Kansas equine industry through educational programs, sustainable trails, youth programs, research projects, assistance programs and to support equine health and welfare.
Trade in your old vehicle or trailer tag for this horse plate at your county treasurer's office. The annual fee is $30 plus there is a one-time $50 charge collected by the Kansas Department of Revenue at the time of original purchase. Membership in the Kansas Horse Council is not required for purchase.
