Turkey Trot and Giving Tree Highlight Holidays at the "Y"

The Turkey Trot at the Cooper Y has become a Thanksgiving Day tradition for many Lincolnites.  It is a fun, family-friendly event that includes three races.
Proceeds support the YMCA annual campaign.

All four YMCAs come together to support the Giving Tree, providing gifts to ALL 400 students at Elliott Elementary School, to help make the holidays bright.

  Salvation Army Program, "Small Fry" Makes Big Splash
 
 
 
The Salvation Army's "Small Fry" basketball program has been a staple in the Lincoln community for over 50 years.  Each year the Salvation Army Small Fry program serves over 2,000 kids from Lincoln and surrounding areas.

Many notable players have come through the Small Fry program.  Just a few are pictured above including Bo Ruud, former Nebraska football player and former UNL basketball player, Jake Muhleisen.

Our partner, the Nebraska Sports Council, sponsors LinConnect,   a youth expo designed to help parents connect with youth sports/activity organizations, from sports clubs/ teams and martial arts to music, dance, crafts and camps. Read more:

No longer is a farmers market just for summer! Twenty of your favorite local farmers come together for the Holiday Harvest Farmers Market at the Park Centers Banquet Hall, 2608 Park Blvd. Holiday Harvest is co-sponsored by Community Crops, Old Cheney's Famers Market, Open Harvest and Lone Tree.

Load up on local veggies, cheese, and lots of other local goodness for your holiday feast. The market starts at 10:00 a.m. and the final bell will ring at 2:00 p.m.  Click here for more information.
