FUN FACTS

Although this common root vegetable is often taken for granted, it deserves some attention. One cup can provide you with 16% of the fiber and 35% of the recommended daily vitamin C! Potatoes are also high in potassium which is important in keeping blood pressure levels normal. Since they are so easy to grow and environmentally friendly, it's no wonder they have been around since 200 BC.

REPORTING TIME!

For current Harvest of the Month participants, the time has come to  brag about your October purchases!
(This is the report you promised to give us at the end of each month so we can track the Harvest of the Month stats...)  Remember, every time you brag, we publicize your efforts to support RI farms. Between our newsletters, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, we're working to tell the world about you. So don't be shy. Get those numbers in while they're still fresh in your mind!

JOIN US!
Harvest of the Month is now being featured on senior dining menus served by Cranston Senior Services and Woonsocket Senior Services. COOKING DEMOS
ARE ALL THE RAGE
The Farm to Cafeteria Staff loves to visit Harvest of the Month participants to celebrate and support local purchasing efforts. We want to help raise awareness of all the good things Senior Dining operators are doing to support RI agricultural producers. We offer activities such as Local Foods Trivia games and recipe creation contests. Our most popular activity lately is our cooking demonstration. Invite us to your center to showcase simple, delicious preparations of RI Grown vegetables! Everyone loves the show, but most of all they enjoy the tasty samples.
