Point in Time Homeless Count Data Released

On January 28th, 2015 the Topeka and Shawnee County Homeless Task Force along with many community volunteers conducted a Point-In-Time Count based on where people stayed the night of the 27th. Count data revealed 403 people expereiencing homelessness. See Full 2015 Point In Time Homeless Count data.

Continuum of Care networks are required by Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to conduct the Point-in-Time Count each year of both sheltered and unsheltered people experiencing homelessness.

The count is not only conducted as a requirement of HUD, but it also provides the Homeless Task Force with valuable information regarding homelessness in Shawnee County.
