An honored author in 2013, Patrick Dooley---the founding artistic director of Shotgun Players----has built a theatrical company with a reputation for artistic excellence, social relevance, and community engagement.
Begun in 1992 with a company of 10 eager actors and
a bucket of paint, the company performed in many different spaces before finding a permanent home at the Ashby Stage in 2004. Under Dooley's guidance the Ashby Stage became the
first 100% solar-powered live theater in the country.
Six guests will begin this special evening with a pre-performance dinner----compliments of Poulet----with Patrick Dooley, followed by a riveting performance of Top Girls. Renowned playwright Caryl Churchill penned this nuanced production examining what it means to be a successful woman in today's world. It's a night out you won't forget!
Proceeds from this event support the Berkeley Public Library Foundation.
