Things sometimes seem to move very fast.  Other times too slow.  I skipped last weeks newsletter because of the July 4th Holiday.  So now it is time to catch up.

Yes, it is true!  We are now less than one year away from the start of Discover Santa 2016!

And  so far over 450 are registered for attend!

Next year, at this time, over 1,000 Santas and Mrs. Claus will be enjoying the hospitality of Branson, marching in the Parade of Red Suits and attending lots of events and activities all designed just for them.

This will be a convention unlike any other Santa convention ever held.  From the opening day check-in and pre-convention events, to the Closing Day and the Santa Claus Hall of Fame ceremonies, this will be a convention to remember!

And in between we have three more days of fabulous events, lots of workshops, the Vendor Showcase, SNO-lympics, the Meet the Kringles Fashion Show and our Gala Dinner.

Plus there are the shows and attractions that Branson is famous for.

There is, of course, lots of work yet to be done.  More details in the weeks and months ahead

Santacerely,

Santa Tim Connaghan

Day One at DS2016

Wednesday, July 6, 2016 is the official arrival day for most of our convention attendees.  The Welcome Committee will have volunteers at our four convention hotels, with your registration packages, inlcuding your ID badge, the convention program book, tickets to meals and events and your official convention wristband which must be worn at all times.

Anyone checking in a day or two earlier, or for those who are staying at RV parks or who have their own accommodations, their registration packages will be at the Headquarter's Hotel, the Chateau on the Lake.

Joining the Welcome committee will be a representative from Branson Ticket and Travel, should you need to add something or make any changes.

During the day there will be a few events that everyone can enjoy.

An informal golf outing is being set up for those who would like to play.

At t
he Chateau there will be a very special 'Santa Blood Drive" hosted by the American Red Cross.
Also at the Chateau will be a special "My other Car is
a Sleigh" auto show featuring some of the vehicles that will be in the Parade of Red Suits.

From 2 pm to 10 pm The Vendor Showcase will open for all to shop and see all the special suits, accessories and products for Santas and Mrs. Claus.

The afternoon, from 3 pm to 6 pm, will also see the first "Kringle Family Reunion"  at the Grand Village Shops, site of the first Parade of Red Suits in 2006.  Our host will be Kringle's, the largest Christmas store in the region and Mel's Hard Luck Dinner, who both hosted the original Parade.

And that evening, from 6 pm til ??? we will see the Regional and State Santa Group Events.  A
ll of the regional and state Santa groups will be hosting their own meetings, dinners or other events for their members.

Just remember not to stay out too late.   Tomorrow it is a early wake-up call for everyone!

Planning Committee to Visit Branson

On September 9 and 10, Members of the Planning Committee will be making a Pre-Convention Visit to Branson.   Simply called a "Pre-Con Visit," the purpose will be to visit the hotels and venues that will be used for the convention, and to assess all needs required for the convention.

Prior to this, only Santa Tim had been visiting the venues and now it is time to do more detailed inspection and planning for the Parade, workshops, vendor showcase and all of the events.

A second "Pre-Con" will be held next March, when more of the committee chairs will be visiting Branson and reviewing the venues again, and making final plans for the world's largest Santa convention.
Early Bird Registration ends September 30
Chateau Room Block Sold Out!

On October 1, we will be adjusting the registration rates for our convention packages.   Of course anyone making reservations by September 30, and getting in some form of deposit will be guaranteed the Early Bird prices.  So you need to fill out your registration form today and talk with Taunya at Branson Ticket and Travel.

Also, we have sold out the 150 rooms we blocked at the Chateau on the Lake. The Chateau has told us they have more rooms available, but they will be at a higher rate.  If you wish to stay at the Chateau, please contact Taunya and she will work with you on reservations at the Chateau.

Two years ago we began negotiating with the hotels, attractions and venues for blocks of rooms or seats and special rates. Basically we got agreements for the rates they were charging in 2014.  They gave us what we wanted, but with the provision that we do our bookings early, and make deposits to cover the registrations.

They also added that after September 30, 2015, they would need to adjust the rates to cover their 2016 costs.  Unfortunately they can't keep the room blocks on hold forever, nor hold seats at shows and attractions without some sort of reservation or guarantee.

So, on October 1, many of the registration packages will be updated to reflect the new rates they will be charged for everything.  So, if you are thinking of going to DS2016, register today.  And should you later find you need to cancel, don't worry we will get you your refund.
