We are just short of one year until Discover Santa 2016. Putting together something that will probably be the World's largest ever gathering of both Santas and Mrs. Claus, is quite a challenge.
Currently we have just over 400 registered for the convention and my hopes and the projections are for between 1,000 and 1,200 to attend. Early registration will end September 30, more details are below.
The Vendor Showcase is now 3/4 sold. We are in negotiations for some great sponsors and some added elements that will make this a most memorable and historic event.
From the opening night, "Kringle Family Reunion,' to the Closing Ceremonies and "The Santa Claus Hall of Fame," and "Santa Claus Oath" ceremonies, it will be a fantastic week.
There are many jobs that need to be covered for the convention and we are trying to fill the chairmanships and connect with all of our volunteers as quickly as possible. I or one of the chairpersons will be connecting with those who signed up as soon as possible. your patience is appreciated.

Early Bird Registration ends September 30
As with anything in the hospitality and travel industry, getting an early registration or reservation generally means getting lower rates. So it is true with the hotels and venues we are booking in Branson.
On October 1, we will be adjusting the registration rates for our convention packages. Of course anyone making reservations by September 30, and getting in some form of deposit will be guaranteed the Early Bird prices. So you need to fill out your registration form today and talk with Taunya at Branson Ticket and Travel.
Two years ago we began negotiating with the hotels, attractions and venues for blocks of rooms or seats and special rates. Basically we got agreements for the rates they were charging in 2014. They gave us what we wanted, but with the provision that we do our bookings early, and make deposits to cover the registrations. This was very important as Branson generally sells out during the summer months.
They also added that after September 30, 2015, they would need to adjust the rates to cover their 2016 costs. Unfortunately they can't keep the room blocks on hold forever, nor hold seats at shows and attractions without some sort of reservation or guarantee. And I also did not have the funds to go ahead and pre-pay for everything. (Wish I had won the lottery!)
So, on October 1, many of the registration packages will be updated to reflect the new rates we will be charged for everything. So please, if you are thinking of going to DS2016, register today. And should you later find you need to cancel, don't worry we will get you your refund.

Assigning Chairpersons / New Positions
The evolution of this convention is quite a change from our original convention. Since that time our networking and the development of many local and regional Santa Groups has also evolved.
DS2016 is much larger in scope that 2006. So we need a few more chairpersons, more volunteers and of course there are many new areas to cover.
About the only things that haven't changed are that I am at the helm and Taunya and Branson Ticket and Travel is handling the registrations.
For example in 2006 I had just six chairpersons that coordinated everything. Now we will have about twenty.
In 2006, there was only on media person, Now we will have a team including someone for media releases, someone to coordinate visiting reporters, someone to liaison with Television crews and finally someone to monitor and feed our social media pages.
Our Parade had one coordinator/chairman. Now, again, we will have a team with someone to direct everything, someone to coordinate the many Santa groups, dignitaries and guests, and someone for autos and floats.
