In order to do something, you have to first believe that you can do it! Once you believe in yourself, so many doors will open up for you. Take that first step today by doing something outside your comfort zone, like a new Beginners Yoga Class, a new Friday Night Circuit, Insanity Live or a Kettlebell class!  A lot of fun is happening here at MSP this Summer, come join us!

July Holiday Closings and July Modified Schedule
  • Studio Closed is July 3 and 4 - Happy 4th!
  • New class Kettlebell 30 - Wednesday night Kettlebell class is now a 30 min express class starting at 6pm.
  • New class Beginners Kickboxing - Starts Tuesday July 7 at 6:30pm (Replaces Kettle/Kick)
  • Due to vacation schedules there are no morning classes the week of July 20 - 27. Event schedule remains unchanged. Morning schedule resume on July 28.
108 Summer Solstice Celebration

Sunday, June 21
7:30 - 9pm
Cost: $15.00  per person 

Celebrate the Summer Solstice by practicing 108 Sun Salutations with Jen Stratakis.

The notion of a salutation to the sun is to pay your respects and surrender to the universe." This is a metaphor to let go physically. The mind follows the actions of the body; in short, it is a moving meditation. 

As a practice, the tradition of 108 Sun Salutations is healing and energizing. The flow of poses will be accompanied by the traditional mantras for this classical series. Participants do NOT need to complete every sun salutation. Pausing to rest is acceptable and encouraged. Simply stay in the spirit of the practice, with the option of resting in Mountain Pose or Child's Pose. (No prior yoga experience required!) 

Please bring a mat, a full bottle of water, and a hand towel to this practice.

New Class - Beginners Kickboxing  

BEGINNERS KICKBOXING  
Starts July 7
Tuesdays at 6:30 - 7:30pm 

This class will teach you the basic kicks and punches, while learning to hold pads correctly. You will also learn how to get the most out of the punches and kicks so you can build confidence in your strikes. Great for beginners, getting back into the practice or cleaning up your form.

Every Friday night starting July 10 through September 4 from 6-7 p.m., we will meet at Movement Studio Pittsburgh for either indoor or outdoor training (weather permitting). Each 1 minute circuit will be designed to help you build your strength and endurance and challenge your cardio! We'll burn anywhere to 700-1000 calories in this class! With the studio directly across the street from the Montour Trail, we will do some light trail run training at the beginning and end of the workout!

Friday Night Circuit is great pre-training for our team mud run!  We had a great time last summer don't miss this class!

Mudderella events are world class, 5-7 mile long obstacle courses designed by women. With 12-15 obstacles, these courses will test your stamina and strength. Our events aren't competitive races. Mudderella is about people coming together to overcome obstacles and have fun at the same time. Completing a course requires more than endurance. Mudderella challenges you to Own Your Strong. Leave everything else in the mud.

New 4 Week Beginners Yoga Series

New to yoga?  This a great way to start your yoga practice!  This 4-week series teaches brand new beginners yoga fundamentals and provides students with the guidance they need to develop a safe and beneficial yoga practice. In this series, students will receive individual attention while learning basic yoga postures, yogic breathing, and relaxation techniques. Individuals will also be introduced to yoga philosophy and meditation.  Different from other beginner classes, the Beginner Series is taught in a sequential manner which provides an ideal environment for learning.  Perfect for people who like to learn sequentially with the same teacher in a small group.    
 
This Beginner Series at Movement Studio will teach you how to move safely into and out of poses, as well as how to modify the poses for your body. You will gain a basic understanding of the language of the practice and - most importantly - you will learn to control your actions and to steady your body, your breath and your mind.  
 
Please arrive early to start each class promptly and to discuss existing conditions with your teacher.
 
If you miss a class you can take it the next time it is offered. Bring a friend. This will help you with your journey into yoga.
