Holly and I are leaving tomorrow for a visit to our new companion diocese - the Diocese of Mexico.  We will be the guests of Bishop Carlos Touche Porter.  He was with us here in Delaware two years ago.

The Diocese of Mexico is the largest and oldest diocese in the Anglican Church of Mexico. It includes Mexico City and the surrounding areas.  The Bishop's office is in Mexico City.  Nearby there is a diocesan Conference Center and St. Andrew's Seminary to train clergy serving in congregations across Mexico and Central America.  Christ Church, Mexico City is one of the oldest Anglican churches in the Spanish-speaking world.

Bishop Carlos and I have been friends for many years.  We first met at the Lambeth Conference in 1998.  I will enjoy the opportunity to learn more about his ministry and will write more about our visit next week.

Mexico and Delaware have a special historic link.  Edward Lee, our first bishop was also the first Episcopal bishop to visit Mexico.   While there Bishop Lee ordained the first Episcopal clergy to serve in Mexico.  The Mexico church looks to him as their founder.   I recently had a photographic copy made of Bishop Lee's portrait.  Holly and I are taking it to Mexico as a gift and reminder of our shared history.

Fletcher Lowe, one of our retired clergy is the co-author of a new book  entitled, "Radical Sending: Go to Love and Serve."  The book is being published by the Church Publishing Company.  Copies are available through the Church Publishing website .    Congratulations to Fletcher on providing this resource for all who are interested in ways to grow in discipleship, faith, and Christian service.

Faithfully,

Wayne Wright
Bishop of Delaware

A Conversation with Scott Gunn
Excitement is building for the Rev. Scott Gunn's visit to the diocese at Parish Life Day. The executive director of one of the most popular and readily-used print publications in the church, Forward Day By Day, Gunn is also one of the minds behind one of the engaging online phenomenon: Lent Madness.  In anticipation of his Parish Life Day workshop, "Go Online to Love and Serve the Lord," Jen Mason, editor of the Delaware Communion, sat down with him virtually to learn a little more about his thoughts on digital communications and to whet our appetites for his time with us in November. ...
