Congratulations Golden State Warriors!
I know, a bit delayed, but they won after I sent out the newsletter, so give me a break. And now, just as I did with Chicago, I shall endeavor to mock Oakland and maybe San Francisco. Because no one is entirely sure where the Warriors actually play in any given year, Did you know they played home game temporarily in San Jose at one point in the 70's? Pardon my French, but pick a damn home!
The San Francisco Bay Area is another area that's severely lacking in recent championships. The Giants are the obvious exception, with three since 2010. Which is impressive. And now the Warriors are winners (having waited four decades to do so). The 49ers could do with a gentle nudge, while the A's might need a slightly harder shove. And then there's the Los Angeles Raiders... sorry... Oakland Raiders... errr... Los Angeles... Oakland... Portland?
Please note that I'm trying to not anger too many people by leaving San Jose out of the discussion.
And, as always, I'll put the joking aside for a moment to truly congratulate the Warriors. They were (as much as it pains me to say it as an Atlanta fan during an amazing year for our Hawks) by far and away the most dominant team throughout the season and the playoffs. Golden State should be commended for their excellent victory over LeBron James... sorry, over the Cavs (sometimes I forget there are other players)!
