MABLETON IMPROVEMENT COALITION

NEWSLETTER

September 16, 2015

From the President...

Mableton needs your help with trash! Yes, trash! We have too much of it, and some people seem to think we need more, since they are throwing it out car windows and dumping large items along roadsides, too. The South Cobb Lions Club has led the way with ongoing trash pickups on major roads and other troublesome areas. You can follow their work on their  Facebook page. If you have a few hours, you can help in this effort. Bags and a tool for picking up trash will be provided. Email me and I'll get you in touch with Barry Krebs. MIC will also be returning to Floyd Road for our quarterly clean-up in October. Watch this newsletter for the date.

Your help is also needed so Cobb Police can catch the "trash bomber." For over a year, someone has been throwing out plastic shopping bags of cut up paper (mostly advertisements). When they land in front yards or sidewalks on in the street, they "explode," with little bits of paper going everywhere. There are dozens of documented incidents from South Gordon Road to Hurt Road and throughout Mableton. MIC met recently with Capt. Jeff Adcock of the Cobb County Police, and he asked that everyone report these incidents to the police using the non-emergency number  770 499-3911. Capt. Adcock also asked that anyone with information that might identify the culprit, to get in touch with him at that number. Given the random locations and times of the events, it will take a tip from a citizen to solve this problem.

Thanks for your support of our efforts and those of others in our community.  Give me a call or send me an email - I'm always ready to talk about Mableton!

Sincerely,

Joel Cope
