Notes from Sunday's Sermon
"GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER?" ( Mark 2:15-17):

Until Christians learn that a sinner is just a sinner no matter what the sin, he or she will always behave like the Pharisees. This misguided notion of "select sins" is also why the Pharisees engaged in the practice of alienation. They separated themselves from the outcasts because they felt that since they were righteous (at least, by their own standards), they would be conta minated if they fellowshipped with outcast sinners. We look at the Pharisees and ask, "How could they?" I wonder why some of us are still playing around with pharisaic principles in our Christian walk. Why are some of us still trying to separate ourselves from other sinners when God is calling us to celebrate the gospel with other sinners?

Well, I believe this text is good news for the church today-liberating news! The text is inviting us to come on back down to the place where Jesus is, down at the table fellowshipping with sinners. The text is good news for us because Jesus said, "I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners . . . the healthy don't need a doctor, but the sick . . ."

Sincerely in Christ,

Prayers for Pastor Stephen King

MTC Family and Friends, we are soo excited our Pastor departed for his well-deserved and overdue vacation today. We pray God's covering and protection over his life as he goes to be restored, refreshed and reinvigorated. We ask for God to clear his mind of anything that will distract him from experiencing the greatest sense of peace on this side of heaven. We love him, and we thank God for his obedience as our Pastor. Amen!

A Mission-Driven Church

Our Mission...
The Memorial Tabernacle Church has come together by the Holy Spirit for the specific purpose of preaching and teaching the word of God, (the Bible), and about Jesus Christ, God's son, and to proclaim the gospel of the Kingdom of God to the North Oakland Community and its environs; to bring healing to the brokenhearted and deliverance to the oppressed.

Our Foundation...
Fellowship "And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more, as you see the day drawing near." (Hebrews 10:24-25)

Prayer "Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God."

(Philippians 4:6)

" Worship Let us therefore, receiving a kingdom that is firm and stable and cannot be shaken, offer to God pleasing service and acceptable worship, with modesty and pious care and godly fear and awe."

(Hebrews 12: 28
