Dream Team

I am constantly asked how the Andréa Rizzo Foundation has grown far and wide through the efforts of a completely volunteer staff. My answer is always the same, "Dréa has sent us a "Dream Team" of angels!"
Each month we will spotlight a different volunteer to show our appreciation.  There are so many compassionate and dedicated volunteers and "angels" so I will randomly choose one to introduce to you each month.

We hope you'll enjoy reading about each of these individuals as much as we love presenting them to you.

Sincerely,
Susan Rizzo-Vincent
President

Dréa's Dream Team - August Spotlight on Gabrielle Shultis
Ten years ago, we were lucky enough to have an eager Salve Regina University freshwoman volunteer as a Community Service Assistant. Gabrielle Shultis attended each and every meeting and helped us to promote Dréa's Dream by contacting dance schools nationwide. She quickly fulfilled her hours and wanted to do more.

When Gabby became a senior, she asked me if she could do an internship with us and since our Dance Across America fundraising campaign had just begun to take off, we needed help from someone with strong writing skills. Gabby definitely fit the bill. She designed a beautifully written template for press releases and also a spreadsheet to keep track of all media outlets nearby to the dance schools' events. Her writing skills and organizational skills quickly became a gift we couldn't do without. She made this complex job seem effortless and always offered to do more than we asked.

As Gabby's graduation neared, I worried about how we would keep up with this ever-growing job. Many more dance schools began to support us and that meant many more press releases had to be created and disseminated to local newspapers, TV, radio and social media each month.

Gabby, being the hardworking, dedicated and generous young woman that she is, assured me that she'd be happy to continue this job as a "lifelong" volunteer for the foundation.  Every day, I thank our lucky stars that Gabby continues to work closely and efficiently with every one of the dance schools that hold events to benefit us each month throughout the country. Over the years, this has added up to hundreds of events!

And - her generous spirit does not stop there! Gabby recently informed me that she recommended that The Andréa Rizzo Foundation be the beneficiary of a fundraiser being held near to her hometown of Kingston, New York this fall. Gabby's many talents, combined with her selfless efforts to help in any way that she can are a testament to the exceptional woman that she has grown to become over the years since I first met her as that eager 18 year old at Salve Regina University.  Thank you, Gabby!!

Dance Therapist Corner

The Andréa Rizzo Foundation, Dréa's Dream, was front and center at the Dance Life Conference in Scottsdale, AZ on July 29 and July 30.  Eight hundred studio owners and dancers were in attendance.  Susan Rizzo Vincent, President of the foundation, and Sharon Mulcahy, dance therapist for the foundation, manned the booth, which explained the work of the foundation.

The message of Dance Across America was told to dance studio owners from across the country including Canada and the Grand Cayman Islands. All were touched by the work of the foundation and most excited to be a part of it.   Susan made a presentation before the group and then showed a video of Sharon in action providing dance therapy at the Connecticut Children's Hospital (CCMC).
