STOP! Featured Volunteer Opportunities!
We need your help!
We currently are in great need of new volunteers to assist with rescue food bank runs and to assist with cleaning cat condos at Petco.

Rescue Food Bank:  S CP is fortunate to receive generous bulk donations of cat and dog food from the Houston Rescue Bank, but we need volunteers who can help us transport the donations from the Houston Food Bank location to the Clear Lake Petco store and then assist in sorting the food and distributing it to our fosters.  This transport activity occurs on Saturday mornings every few months and typically lasts 3 to 4 hours - it is a great volunteer opportunity if you can't commit to a recurring weekly commitment.  For more information on the Rescue Bank activity please contact  Lynn Irvine and  Jane Ensor.

Cat Condo Cleaners:  If you have been in the Clear Lake Petco store during the week you have probably seen the SCP condo unit where 3 to 4 cats camp out a week at a time on a rotating basis to give them more visibility to prospective adopters.  This is a great opportunity for us to be able to showcase some of our wonderful adoptable kitties during the week but requires the support of a team of volunteers who keep the kitties fed and watered and the litter boxes clean.  We are in need of a few additional condo volunteers to spread the workload around as the condos are cleaned twice per day (morning and evening) and we have a few shifts open.  All the needed supplies are provided and it only takes less than an hour of your time - the kitties that stay in the condos during the week love it when the volunteers come to clean and give them lots of affection!  For more information or to sign up for a weekly condo cleaning shift please contact  Susan Stevenson

Sara Ryan

Sara Ryan began fostering in 1996 while she was in college and has been actively involved in rescuing since that time.  Currently, Sara serves as the cat intake coordinator and has been involved with SCP since 2001. In addition to her role as cat intake coordinator, she fosters both cats and dogs and volunteers as a cat adoption counselor on most Saturdays.  You have probably seen her photography skills on a lot of our online cat pictures on pet finder...it is hard work trying to get decent and cute pictures of our kitties during the middle of a busy Saturday at a crowded Petco, but Sara does a great job!

"I enjoy working with SCP because it is nice to see so many other volunteers willing to dedicate their free time to our organization and cause and I most enjoy when repeat adopters come back to SCP to add another member to their furry family!"

Fostering Saves Lives!

SCP can only rescue as many animals as it has available fosters.  Fostering is a very rewarding experience and SCP pays for all medical costs. If you have ever considered fostering, please contact us at [email protected] and let us answer your questions regarding the fostering process.
