Short and long-term strategies proposed to accommodate district growth
It's been an incredible year so far! I love the changing of the seasons along with the rain and even snow and I am so excited for the great things happening in PSD.

As you can probably see and feel every day, Poudre School District is growing each year and our schools are getting more and more crowded. We are one of the fastest growing districts in the state, adding about 500 students each year. If all those students were in one place, that is the size of an elementary school! This growth is especially impacting our four comprehensive high schools as well as elementary and middle schools in the southeast and northeast portions of the district. To accommodate this growth, we are proposing both short-term and long-term strategies. Click for more.
Take a moment to "Pause for PSD" and catch up on this week's happenings, highlights and hot topics from around the District.

Featured this week: A shout out to Webber Middle School from space, an update on our long range plan to accommodate future growth, and over 2,500 dictionaries given to PSD 3rd graders.

Mark your calendar! PSD's Annual Turkey Round Up is November 12

More than 2,500 turkeys are needed for holiday food baskets this year so please consider donating a frozen turkey at your school or site during the PSD Turkey Round Up on Thursday, Nov. 12!
Wranglers at each school will deliver the turkeys to the Food Bank of Larimer County, who will distribute them to families in need during the holiday season. Each year the Food Bank provides services to more than 40,000 residents of Larimer County.

Teachers Matter!  Meet three teachers doing great work in PSD

Each month, three local Rotary clubs honor a PSD teacher for the important work they do with students every day. Click here read about these exceptional PSD staff members.
District Assessment Calendar Available Now
Student assessment is a meaningful part of student learning and instructional planning. Assessments allow educators to monitor student progress and the effectiveness of instructional strategies. At certain times throughout the year, students are given required assessments that fulfill legislative requirements or district guidelines. For more details about assessments and a calendar for the academic year, visit the PSD website.
Learn more about proposed boundaries for new schools in PSD
Click the image for video.
As part of PSD's Long Range Facilities Plan, the district is proposing to build three new schools to accommodate growth.

These new schools will require boundaries, which will impact several schools in the southeastern and northeastern portions of the district. Watch a quick video to see an overview of the proposed boundaries.  A boundary committee, made up of parent and staff representatives, will make a final recommendation to the Superintendent in early 2016.  Visit the PSD website for more information.
