Dear Kathleen,

The month of June is one of our favorites. Along with beautiful weather, we get to join Calgarian’s in celebrating and honoring the men in our lives. Father’s day is one of those special days we can say thank you to the wonderful guy who holds the title no one else can, Dad.

At Calgary's Prostate Cancer Centre, we work hard to ensure we have the best possible programs, services and options available to the Dad’s in our community. Thank you for your support of this important work – together we are making a difference.
Telus Ride for Dad
Devoted bikers assembled in the Deerfoot Mall parking lot, r evving their bikes wearing leather and huge smiles. They were joining forces to do something they love, while raising money for prostate cancer research.  A cheque was presented to Dr. Eric Hyndman for $55,275 to continue his research at Calgary’s Prostate Cancer Centre. That brings the total to over $406,000 since 2008. The enormous parade of riders ended up at the Max Bell centre, where they could continue to the “poker run” route that rode through towns surrounding Calgary. Many of the riders have had a personal connection to this disease. Thank you to the Calgary Telus Ride for Dad team for organizing and hosting this event, as well as hosting several MAN VAN clinics throughout the year.

Dad's Day at the Dawgs
This year marks the fourth season the Okotoks Dawgs have hosted their “Dad’s Day at the Dawgs” on Father’s Day. This year’s beautiful weather brought out a record breaking crowd of almost 4,000 people. Although the Dawgs may have lost, any man over the age of 40 won by keeping their health in check with a visit to the MAN VAN. Thank you Okotoks Dawgs for another year and good luck on the rest of the season!
20,000 Man on the Van
The MAN VAN Program has tested 20,000 men since 2009. Congratulations to Steve! He was the 20,000th man on the MAN VAN at the clinic hosted at the Safeway in Shawnessy.  Steve won a manly PCC gift basket for being the 20,000th man on the Van.
