Early Learnings from an Emerging Field

In 2015, DASH conducted an environmental scan of the state of multi-sector data sharing initiatives aimed at improving community health. Monitoring and analysis is ongoing, but the initial findings show a vibrant and diverse set of initiatives exist across the country. The results provide context on the landscape in which DASH and similar initiatives are working.


5 Key Takeaways from the DASH Kickoff Meeting

In early February, 75 stakeholders including DASH grantees, advisory group members, and other national experts met in Dallas, TX to kick off the DASH initiative. The meeting was structured to build a culture of sharing and learning, and themes started to emerge as participants shared their insights. Here are five key takeaways from the kickoff.

Funding opportunity

California Accountable Communities for Health Initiative

Community Partners has released a request for proposals for Accountable Communities for Health, which seek to explicitly bring together key sectors and partners from the community to the health care delivery system to collectively advance a common health goal. Up to six awardees will receive up to $250,000 in the first year of funding and up to $300,000 per year for the next two years.

  • Health Datapalooza May 8-11, 2016 in Washington, DC -  This  national conference is focused on liberating health data, and bringing together the companies, startups, academics, government agencies, and individuals with the newest and most innovative and effective uses of health data to improve patient outcomes.
  • NNHPI Annual Conference May 17-19 in New Orleans, LA -  This is the only national meeting that supports and highlights the work of the nation's public health institutes. NNPHI members lead conference programming that explores fresh concepts and strategies for supporting healthy communities at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Practical Playbook National MeetingMay 22-24 in Bethesda, MD - By bringing together key stakeholders from across sectors, this meeting will help to catalyze a national movement, accelerate collaborations by fostering skill development, and facilitate the exchange of ideas to drive population health improvement.

  • National Health and Human Services Summit May 22-25 in Arlington, VA -  This national summit will provide a robust platform to fully engage all sectors of health and human services. The workshops and sessions will encompass a diverse set of topics ranging from policy to research to state and local initiatives.
