 Celebrating St. John Bosco We kicked off celebrating the bicentenary of Don Bosco in conjunction with our school-wide celebration of the feast of St. John Bosco (January 31st). It's the first week of the second semester. It's also Catholic Schools Week. And in the halls of DBCR, it's the time-honored tradition known as "Don Bosco Week" that builds to a frenzy and explodes in energy. The Song in Our Hearts
Our growing school choir led the congregation in worship and energized the student body to join in a stellar rendition of Friend of the Young and the Poor, the unique Salesian musical tribute to St. John Bosco and his charism.

The Love We Share
Fr. Jack Peterson, YA, of the Youth Apostles (YA) Institute shared his love of St. John Bosco with our school community as the main celebrant and homilist for our Feast Day Mass. It is one of only two days in the school calendar when the entire student body is together.

The Spirit
The cheerleading squad kicked off the Olympic Games and invigorated the crowd. Their electrifying routine united the crowd in shouts of "Don Bosco Wolfpack" before competition between the Houses began.

The Cheers
In the first big event following Mass, each of the 12 Houses took its opportunity to emulate the cheerleaders and perform its house cheer in an effort to secure the top point-earning spot.

The Games
From Knockout, to peanut relays, to "Don Bosco Jeopardy", to the Mummy Race, students earned points all afternoon for their houses in an array of hilariously fun games. Excitement mounted as the leader board shifted up until the very last event of the day.

The Big Reveal
Though Don Bosco Day is a rare break from DBCR's schedule of classes and work-study, hard work was not far from the students' minds. A mob gathered to see the posted list of students who made honor roll at the end of the first semester.

The Annual Showdown
In addition to the competition between the Houses, no other event is more widely anticipated than the faculty v. seniors tug-of-war. After what felt like an eternity of back and forth tugging, the male Faculty pulled it out and earned a year of bragging rights over the senior boys. The female seniors, however, took the title from the women of the faculty who are now in training to win next year.

The Victors!
Miki House said they would do it again (for a THIRD year in a row) and they in fact pulled it out! After a great afternoon of competition, morning of prayer, and week of Don Bosco-related activities, House 1 retained its undefeated title. In addition to keeping the trophy for another year, all House 1 members won tickets to Salesian Family Day at Six Flags in May.
