CAMASSESafety Leadership Conference - December 2, 2015


CAM and the ASSE have teamed together to present this full-day conference, specifically designed for leaders with a responsibility for employee safety. Company owners, top executives, safety managers, and human resource personnel will all find value in the diverse range of topics available.

Your registration includes breakfast, an opening Keynote address, lunch, three workshops of your choice, a panel discussion featuring leaders representing all industries, and a post-conference networking reception. In addition, safety equipment suppliers will be on hand to answer your questions about what's hot and how to address hazards within your workplace.

BrinkerCAM Chairman Larry Brinker, Jr. Chosen by Crain's 40 Under 40  
 
2015 CAM Chairman of the Board, Larry S. Brinker, Jr. ( The Brinker Group, Detroit) was chosen as one of Crain's "40 Under 40" elite. 

Since 1991, Crain's has gathered 40 of the community's overachievers for a special salute. The winners have started companies, found success at a young age, established businesses and made nonprofits stronger. 

The honorees will be celebrated at the Marriott Renaissance Center along with colleagues, clients, family and friends, on the evening of Thursday, November 19, 2015.

This one-day construction event will be held at MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. It  will be attended by construction owners, contractors, suppliers, architects and engineers. Show hours are 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.

The event will also play host to the  CAM 130th Annual Meeting, CAM Magazine Special Issue Awards, and Construction Project of the Year Award , which will be held inside the Sound Board.  CAMTEC , the training and education division of CAM, will offer classes during the tradeshow, as well.

Past CAM Chairman, Joe Murphy, Passes Away  

Joseph R. Murphy passed away on September 23, 2015.  He was well-known and respected throughout Michigan's Construction Industry, in which he worked for nearly 50 years.

Joe was a longtime member, supporter and promoter of the Construction Association of Michigan (CAM) and the Glazing Contractors Association (GCA). An avid golfer and bowler, he served for many years on the CAM Golf Committee and as chairman of the CAM Doubles Classic bowling event.

In 2001 Joe was elected to serve as the CAM Chairman of the Board. He was CAM's 102
nd chairman in the association's 130-year history. He also served as board member of the Construction Federal Credit Union (CFCU), an organization chartered by CAM in 1974.

As any of his industry friends and colleagues will attest, Joe was a loyal friend, always positive, quick with a joke, and dangerous with a microphone.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda, their three children, three grandchildren, and many extended family members. Michigan's construction industry has lost a dear friend.
