  GREETINGS

Janet Rady

With memories of a relaxing summer now fast becoming relegated to the repositories of Facebook and Instagram, we turn our thoughts to the wonderful and packed artworld programmes awaiting us this autumn.

Will you be going to Istanbul for the 14th edition of the Istanbul Bienali and ARTINTERNATIONAL both in September?  Or perhaps the Beirut Art Fair, later in the month?  If you are in London, be certain not to miss what promises to be an incredible series of exhibitions from Sharjah at the Whitechapel Gallery: Barjeel Art Foundation Collection: Imperfect Chronology - Debating Modernism I.

This month, also we focus on the multi-talented Lebanese Canadian artist
Camille Zakharia. Photographer, collage and print maker, whatever Camille turns his hand to, he constantly surprises us with his original and thought provoking projects.  Look out for his work at our booth at  ArtBahrain.

We hope you have a rewarding month of September and enjoy browsing through our newsletter.

Best wishes from all the team at Janet Rady Fine Art

You left Lebanon during the Civil War in 1985, where you had just graduated from the American University of Beirut in the Engineering Department. Do aspects of your formal education as an Engineer come into play in your series called "Division Lines"? How?
"I have always been fascinated with geometric shapes, forms and patterns. This is most evident in my "Division Lines" series, where the main elements consist of paint on asphalt - simple straight lines that offer a vast number of configurations to consider..."

"The photographic art of Camille Zakharia represents a discerning diversity of visual approaches to autobiography, site, history, narrative and portraiture. The art invites a complex and heterogeneic reading where metaphor and history, ambiguity and specificity coalesce in a uniquely personal manner. Through an accomplished and insightful approach to the formal strategies of collage..."

ART ADVISORY / THE ART MARKET
We tend to think of art as an asset class / investment being a recent phenomenon, however Peggy Guggenheim was already referring to this development in the art world when she commented how lucky she was to have acquired her collection in the first half of the 20th Century 'before the whole picture world turned into an investment market'.

Here we take a look at different aspects of investing in art.
