Welcome, Tanya Howard!
Please welcome Tanya Howard, Child Welfare Specialist with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. Tanya was born in Oceanside, California, and was raised in Clearwater, Florida. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with her degree in Sociology. Tanya has been in the field of social work for one year now.

In her spare time, Tanya loves to read crime novels and mysteries. She also loves spending time with her kids. Tanya has three children of her own (six-year-old, eight-year-old and 10-year-old), and two step-children (16-year-old and 20-year-old). She adores the individuality of each of them.

When asked why she is looking forward to working at the Center, she said, "I am looking forward to working cases that challenge me."

Television Special on Child Sexual Abuse
You may have heard that in the wake of the revelations of sexual abuse in the Duggar Family, stars of TLC's "19 Kids and Counting," and the show's subsequent cancellation, TLC released a one-hour documentary titled " Breaking the Silence" addressing the issue of child sexual abuse.

The special aired Sunday, Aug. 30, on TLC. TLC partnered with RAINN, Erin's Law Foundation,  and Darkness to Light, developer of the Stewards of Children adult sexual abuse prevention curriculum many Children's Advocacy Centers have used, to consult on and produce the documentary.
