Summer Programs to Add to Your List!
There is a lot going on this summer at the Children's Museum in Oak Lawn...
- Umigo - A fun, interactive, groundbreaking US Department of Education program that we've adopted through a partnership with the Children's Museum of Manhattan. Emphasis on STEM for children ages 6-8.
- Nano Science - Learn about the Science of Small.
- The Dr. Is In - Around 10:30 am join a visiting senior pediatric resident from Advocate Hope Children's Hospital for an interactive and educational session that will cover various topics that change each month. They will teach children about their bodies and promoting wellness. This session is a great opportunity to interact with a pediatrician in a welcoming and positive environment , non-medical and non-intimidating environment.
All of these programs, and more, are free with your paid admission or membership. Be sure to check out our calendar on our new website.

Museum Announces Soaring Spirit Recipients
Ann Willingham, SPHT Marge Joy
The Children's Museum, in Oak Lawn, has announced its 2015 Soaring Spirit honorees-Ann Willingham and Marge Joy. They will be recognized at the museum's annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner.
Ann Willingham, SPHR, served on the museum's board of directors from 2009 to 2015. During her tenure, Willingham was instrumental in board governance and board recruitment. She also acted as a human resources advisor and helped develop the process necessary to serve on the museum's board of directors. Willingham was with the museum through the location move in 2009 and played a key role in working with the executive director in the creation of the employee handbook.
The second Soaring Spirit honoree is Marge Joy. Joy has been with the museum from day one, when the organization was just an idea that Carol Marsh had dreamed about. Joy supports the museum through volunteering and serving on the museum's board of directors. Joy is also a strong supporter of the museum's annual Princess Holiday Ball and helps families who would not normally be able to participate.
The museum will recognize Willingham, Joy and other volunteers on Wednesday, July 22, at the Garden Chalet, 11000 S. Ridgeland Ave., in Worth, at 6 p.m. The event is an Italian theme. There will be games and activities for the adults during the reception.
Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at cmoaklawn.org. Please join us and help us thank the people who help make the museum work!

Heroes & Heroines
A Mother-Son "Just Us" League Event
Every year for the past 4 years, the Children's Museum in Oak Lawn has put on a Father-Daughter Princess Ball event that last year included science experiments as part of our educational mission. Moms... We've listened. You've been telling us for awhile that you want an event for you and your sons...
This event is modeled after the father-daughter event in terms of activities, games, crafts and other fun-while-learning opportunities. Preregistration is required and the price is exactly the same as the Princess Ball. More information can be found out our website.

From the Executive Director: We realize that some mothers don't have sons and some fathers don't have daughters. We hear all of you who want a special event like this for you and your child. What makes these events work are volunteers. If you are interested in the museum having a Mother-Daughter event or a Father-Son event, e-mail me at [email protected]. I'd like to hear from you and if I hear from enough of you, we can talk about putting together these events for 2016.
Also, don't forget about our MEGA FAMILY EVENT on September 27th! The Fall Fun Fest is back and the outdoor event is a free event for families! More info on this event will be coming soon.
