Intro to Sashiko (Japanese embroidery)

Carrie Fondi from Aloha Quilts will be teaching you an introduction to Sashiko (Japanese Embroidery)

Sashiko - literally "little stabs" is a form of decorative reinforcement stitching (or functional embroidery) from Japan. Traditionally used to reinforce points of wear, or to repair worn places or tears with patches, this running stitch technique is often used for purely decorative purposes in quilting and embroidery. The white cotton thread on the traditional indigo blue cloth gives sashiko its distinctive appearance, though decorative items sometimes use red thread.

Anita Goodesign - Stitchin' in the Kitchen Workshop Update

I want to thank all those who attended this workshop! You made it a super fun day!  The event went really well. We had a lot of people show up and really enjoy the projects. We were able to do all five projects we were hoping to get to all three days. The ideas and creativity was just amazing.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch catered by  Los Potrillos Taqueria here in Reno, NV. It was absolutely wonderful!

So, now that the event is over and we've had a chance to recover and get things cleaned up, we've found that a few people were not able to attend the event. Time schedules, illness and difficulty in bringing machines back and forth were some of the reasons. We're sorry you weren't able to make it, but we have something we can offer you. We have a few of the workshop instruction booklets and design cd's still available. If you would like to purchase the designs, follow our link below and see if we still have one for you to buy.

I want to thank "Day, Marilyn & Kathy" for all their hard work and wonderful support during this event. I couldn't have done it without all of your help!
