TeamDoorwaysPicNew LIFT Program

Living Independently For Tomorrow is a program designed to help clients transition off on-going monthly rent assistance to self-sufficiency and independent living. L.I.F.T. will pay rent assistance on the clients' behalf for 10 months, during which our employment and self-sufficiency specialist will work directly with the clients to increase skills and income. Together staff and clients will budget and set realistic goals to assist with the transition.

Doorways has teamed up with Chestnut Health Systems and 13 other St. Louis agencies to study and identify meaningful treatment options for individuals affected by HIV and substance abuse. One of these options is a concept known as Motivational Interviewing.
What is Motivational Interviewing?
What is Motivational Interviewing?

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative, goal oriented style of communication which can be utilized to motivate clients to take charge of their lives and become more empowered.  Two of our staff members recently became certified in Motivational Interviewing. They will work with our residents to promote positive life choices.

It is our hope that Motivational Interviewing will lead to a better quality of life and encourage many long-term residents to achieve greater independence and health.
