Building tour of the Crescent Hill Reservoir Gatehouse

When: Friday, October 30, 2015
Where: Crescent Hill Reservoir Gatehouse (Pump House), park along Reservoir Avenue. The tour will begin at the bottom of the steps.
Time: 12:00pm-1:00pm

Description: Join us this Friday for an inside look at the Louisville Water Company gatehouse. The Crescent Hill Reservoir Gatehouse restoration project recently won the RESTORATION PROJECT OF THE YEAR from the American Public Works Association KY Chapter. Join the project Architect, Tim Graviss, on a tour through the building to learn about the construction process, historic restoration, and history of the building.

Course Description
An examination of the new Poly-Ash category of exterior trim
products as it relates to other types of trim, specifically around the
areas of installation, longevity, maintenance and sustainability.
 
Learning Objectives
* Identify the various categories of exterior trim
* Understand key attributes of each exterior trim category
* Define the Poly-Ash category of exterior trim
*  Identify key applications and installation guidelines for Poly-Ash products
*  Discuss the sustainable advantages of poly-ash trim products
 
Target Audience:  Architects, owners, specifiers and other design professionals in the residential, commercial or multi-family markets.
Instruction Method:  Facilitator may use a Powerpoint presentation or handouts, depending on audience size.
Facilitator Qualifications:  All facilitators will be Boral TruExterior Sales personnel, or Distributor product specialists who have undergone training on CES guidelines and presentation skills.

GBBN Architects announces its inaugural Design Issues Series (DIS) exhibition entitled, The Digital in Design and Making, which explores the work of the firm and their use of digital tools to create inspiring spaces and architectural artifacts. This (DIS) exhibition will feature projects by GBBN that have used digital design processes and fabrication to create architectural objects. GBBN will display created artifacts that clearly describes the narrative of digital and making in each architectural project. The architectural design process is unfolded with a collection of sketches, video, imagery, digital and physical models demonstrating how buildings take shape.

Register for Louisville's Second Annual Sustainability Summit
The Office of Sustainability and the Louisville Sustainability Council (LSC) invite you to attend the second annual Sustainability Summit on November 5 and 6, 2015. An opening reception will be held on Thursday at Copper & Kings, 1121 East Washington Street. The Friday Summit will be held at the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage, 1701 West Muhammad Ali Blvd. 

Opening reception - Thursday, November 5, from 5:30 to 8:30pm. It will include welcome presentations, hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and special entertainment.

Sustainability Summit - Friday, November 6, from 8:00am to 5:30pm. Participants will attend plenary and breakout sessions focused on improving Louisville's air quality. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided.
