Creating a Lenten Prayer Space At Home

When I was working as a children's pastor, I became very aware that I had my little flock of children for only two hours a week. That left 166 hours unaccounted for. I wondered both as a minister and a new mom, "How could Christian development flourish in this larger space of time, when children are with their parents and other caregivers?" For the past six years, I have been home with my own little flock (now four little boys 0-8). As a family, we journey daily in our exploration of Christian development. The tool that I am most grateful for is the church year. I long for my children to feel part of the biblical story. I want them to know that this story begins before them and ends
after them; they are part of God's kingdom right now. The church year invites us into this story, giving us an opportunity to imaginatively enter the past, present and future of this story.          Read More

The Playground is Now Complete

Last Sunday after church  Fr. Billy was so eager to get the work on the new playground done, he marched right out and got some holy Bob Catting going. A hardy bunch of folks rolled up their sleeves and spread that great big mountain of mulch.  Pizza was supplied by Jennifer and Travis Johnston. Eyeing the whole operation was Jennifer's and Travis' baby boy, who knows he will be out there playing on that swing pretty soon, himself.
Feb.  15th is World Missions Day
In The Episcopal Church

Traditionally celebrated on the last Sunday after Epiphany, World Mission Sunday in 2015 is February 15 in The Episcopal Church.

The purpose of World Mission Sunday is to focus on the global impact of the Baptismal Covenant's call to "seek and serve Christ in all persons" (Book of Common Prayer, p. 305), and to raise awareness of the many ways in which The Episcopal Church participates in God's mission around the world.

"World Mission Sunday gives us an opportunity to remember that all humanity is created in God's image and that we are called to reflect on how we are living into our baptismal vows and to engage concretely in mutual and interdependent relationships with our brothers and sisters around the world," noted the Rev. David Copley, Mission Personnel Officer.

Currently, Episcopal Church missionaries are located in many international locales, including Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Egypt, El Salvador, France, Ghana, Haiti, Honduras, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Jerusalem, Kenya, Mozambique, Panama, the Philippines, Qatar, Romania, South Africa, Spain, Tanzania, and Uruguay.

Feb. 15th Shrove Tuesday
Pancake Supper in the Parish Hall
5:30 pm
You're going to want to show up with a good appetite Tuesday
afternoon, because there will be some delicious pancakes and sausage cooking. The Boy Scout troop will be helping with the cooking; there will be live music playing to usher in the Lenten Season, and who knows, there might even be a King Cake or two. All for the low, low price of $3.50 per person or $10.00 for a family
News from the Atrium

Dear Friends,
This Sunday we will have atrium time from 9:15am-10:15am only.  No early session for the littlest ones, since Mother Kelly will be presiding at both services.

I am looking for a few green thumbs to begin growing some wheat seeds in small containers.  Email me if interested.

And may I encourage you to consider Lenten Wed. night children's choir and evening Atrium time (will also allow for children to finish homework, if needed).  See Sara Burden McClure's information about this.

Peace,
Kelly
