Hendey Named First Kallsen Endowed Chair Holder

Greg Hendey, MD, FACEP
, was named the inaugural chair holder of the
Gene W. Kallsen, MD, Endowed Chair in Emergency Medicine,
for
UCSF's Fresno Medical Education Program.
The endowed chair is named in honor of Gene Kallsen, renowned for his contributions and dedication of nearly 40 years to emergency medicine at UCSF Fresno -
first as an emergency medical resident and then as a faculty member, leader, and ambassador. This chair enables UCSF Fresno to continue recruiting the finest physicians and medical educators to head its emergency medicine program for years to come. Read more...

Member Focus: Jacque Duncan, MD
I had an opportunity to interview new member Jacque Duncan, MD, to discuss her passion for education, mentoring, and career counseling in the Department of Ophthalmology.
She is currently clinical professor of ophthalmology and vice chair for medical student education, where she spends twenty percent of her time seeing patients at Parnassus, twenty percent in medical student education, and sixty percent in research on treatments for inherited retinal degenerations. Tips for Success: Faculty Mentoring Series
The
Campus Council on Faculty Life's lunch mentoring series features distinguished faculty mentors in an informal session about mentorship, career advancement and satisfaction at UCSF. This year, the focus is on how to identify and cultivate your network of mentors and sponsors. Mentors will address such issues as: finding mentors, building a reliable and strong mentor network,
cultivate mentoring relationships, and
moving to a new stage of your career.
