The St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. John's
parish regularly makes home visits to our neighbors in need within our parish boundaries. In many cases, our assistance is the only thing standing between these at-risk people and homelessness. We help these poorest of the poor with rent assistance, utilities, bedding, clothing, and food. Just last week, we were called to help a family of eight, with children ranging in age from 3 to 21 living in a single room at a motel on Aurora. The sole support of this family is the 19-year-old son who works and is going to school.

Not surprisingly, our group needs money to help those living in the shadows of society. Contrary to what many believe, the SVdP group at St. Johns does not receive any assistance from the parish or archdiocese. Rather, our budget comes solely from parishioner donations made directly to our group in the Sunday collections. Unfortunately, donations have not kept pace with the need. So far this year, we have distributed $24,120 to the needy people we have served (plus another approximately $4,000 in goods from our food pantry).

Please consider a recurring donation to SVdP to help meet the many needs in our own neighborhood. We wish you a warm, Thanksgiving full of love and laughter.
A New Motor for Father Ladislaus

Parish Annual Report

...This report shows our accountability for the good stewardship of this past year. I am proud to list what we as a parish have been able to support and accomplish over the past year.  I also humbly acknowledge the areas in which we need to grow.  I look forward to accomplishing even more with your support and with the help of God's grace in the coming year...

A Letter from Father about Christmas Mass

Jambo -

We are fast approaching the glorious Christmas Season.  I think that you will agree time passes more quickly year after year!  Over the last few years it has been apparent that on Christmas Eve many parishioners along with their extended families come to worship at St John.  I am thrilled that we have such community on this very special night.

To accommodate all who wish to celebrate on Christmas Eve, we will be offering TWO Children's Masses:  4pm and 6pm.  read more
