Happy Retirement

We want to wish a happy retirement to our Children's Librarian Kathleen Thorner . Kathleen started at the adult circulation desk in 1988 and has been full-time in the Children's Room for just over 20 years. She has seen many changes and many happy young faces in the Children's Room. We wish her a relaxing retirement with more time spent with her grandchildren!

Monthly Information Board

Did you know you can download the latest issues of some of your favorite magazines onto your Nook, or  device that has the Nook app on it? From the Library web page http://library.dover.nh.gov/ click on the Visit Overdrive icon on the left.  Forty different magazines are available including Newsweek, Cook's Illustrated,  Car and Driver, Vanity Fair and Runner's World. You can check out up to 3 magazines in a 7 day period, and it doesn't count against your eBook and audiobook downloads. Best of all, the magazines stay on your device until you decide to delete them so you can build up a collection of your favorite magazines.   For more information take a look at the bulletin board on the ground floor and pick up an instructional handout.
Library Cards

Library cards offer access to a world of ideas and entertainment. They make great gifts. If you have a loved one who doesn't live in Dover, but would appreciate being able to borrow from the Dover Public Library, then you can give them the gift of a library card this year. Non-resident fees are based on what the average tax payer in Dover pays to support the library and is set by the City Council. Ask at the desk or see our website for information about prices for non-resident cards.

Your Library Card

Once you register for a card, whether you live in Dover or not, you'll be asked to renew your card in person annually. We want to verify that we have your most up-to-date contact information and that you are still eligible for a free card. If you don't use your card for more than 5 years you will most likely be removed from our system. Our statistics need to count current users only, not those folks who have moved away or passed away.
If you use our digital collection, you'll definitely want to keep your card current. If we have an email address for you we will send a reminder asking you to come in and update your card so you don't lose access to the digital content or lose the ability to reserve museum passes.
Please remember to bring your card with you when you plan to borrow and to have it out and ready . If you forget your card, we can check you out with your photo ID.
