Eagles Bow Out in NAIA FCS Debut

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - In the program's first game in the snow, No. 12 Reinhardt struggled with handling the ball as No. 4 St. Francis used five RU turnovers to win, 37-26 at Kevin Donley Field in the first round of the NAIA Football Championship Series.

The Eagles (9-2) saw their season come to an end after struggling to get going in the first quarter. USF (9-1) scored a touchdown on its opening possession, and RU fumbled the ball away on its next two drives. A USF field goal made it 10-0, but Javier Dyer forced a fumble on USF's next possession gave RU the ball back. The Eagles would drive down field and score on a Sam Jones 27-yard touchdown scamper.

Late Heartbreak for Lady Eagles

Reinhardt's women's soccer team took a lead over No. 10 Keiser with less than nine minutes to go, but two goals in less than five minutes would prove to be heartbreak for the Lady Eagles as RU fell, 3-2, in the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round in West Palm Beach, Fla.

"It was a very tough loss today," said RU head coach Andy Kaplan. "We played our hearts out. I could not be more proud of the team and especially the seniors. This has been a very special group that has done a lot in their careers. We gave the No. 10 team in the country everything we had on their field and we were just a few minutes from beating them."
