Doheny Village Planning Charette Begins September 8th
Excerpt from the Dana Point Times

A four-day planning charrette aimed at creating a land use plan and zoning code for upcoming development in the Doheny Village downtown area, is set to begin on Tuesday, Sept. 8 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Capo Beach Church, 25975 Domingo Avenue in Capistrano Beach.

The community workshop is the first in a series of four meetings with Opticos Design, Inc., the firm hired by the city to provide form-based code for the long-awaited revitalization plan for the neighborhood. The charrette will include daily design studio sessions where immediate feedback from the public will be gathered by Opticos to be used in the creation of a new zoning code.

At the first meeting, Opticos will introduce the plan for the charrette and familiarize attendees with the "building form" first and "building use" second process of form-based code that will be used in the plan.

The charrette will continue on Sept. 9 and 10 with public open studio time and a daily progress report from Opticos. These sessions will also be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Capo Beach Church.

On Saturday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the same location, Opticos will give a final presentation. that will lead to the actual creation of the new code.

Celebrate the Dana Point Summer Trolley Success
at this Sunday's Trolley Hop Finale
Since the service started on June 26, 2015, the City of Dana Point's Summer Trolley has been well received. Ridership includes summer youth, event goers, local residents on trolley hops/restaurant trips, hotel/timeshare visitors, etc. The Trolley service has helped to encourage our summer visitors to stay and spend their vacation dollars at local businesses.

The Summer Trolley service was funded in part by OCTA grants. The OCTA grant funding stipulations required that a minimum of 10 boardings per vehicle per hour be achieved in order to retain the grant. We are happy to announce that, to date, the average boardings per hour are nearly double that, at approximately 19 boardings per vehicle, per hour. While the public has embraced the trolley, our local restaurants have gone above and beyond by banding together to create a Trolley Hop to encourage ridership and shopping locally. Every Sunday, riders who have purchased a special Trolley Mug have taken the Summer Trolley to participating restaurants to enjoy exclusive discounts on drinks and food. This program has been a big success highlighting the variety of our restaurants in Dana Point and encouraging our community to patronize businesses during off peak periods.

The Dana Point Chamber of Commerce would like to thank the City of Dana Point City Council and staff for their hard work in making the Summer Trolley a reality. According to the City, due to the success of the inaugural summer, the Dana Point Summer Trolley program will continue next summer and feature open air trolleys. This will be a huge boost for our community!

To celebrate the last Sunday Trolley Hop, the Dana Point Lantern District Alliance is promoting an end-of-summer Trolley Hop Finale. Let's get together to celebrate the season's last Trolley Hop this Sunday from 12PM to 8PM. Click here to purchase a mug or learn about the specials being offered.

See you on the Trolley!

Study: Workers Overwhelmingly Say
Flexible Work Hours Would Boost Their Loyalty
Excerpt from Ragan.com

Almost half of the American workforce will be working from home by 2016. Here's what you need to know about flexible work options.

Sixty-one percent of people say working from home would help them be more productive because they wouldn't have to deal with office politics, interruptions from colleagues and commuting stress, an infographic from Technology Advice says.

More shocking is that 82 percent say they would be more loyal to their employers if they could work from home and enjoy other flexible work options.

Employees want flexible work schedules and the ability to telecommute for work-life balance (74 percent), family (52 percent), health and wellness (52 percent) and to save time and stress (47 percent), among other reasons.

Amy Elder Fitness

My clients get results! My name is Amy Elder and I've been a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certified fitness trainer for over eight years. I have a passion for training people to achieve their fitness goals, no matter what that goal is.

Taking fat burning pills and supplements, the Atkins diet, or following the latest fad video exercise is not going to burn off body fat, and keep it off for the rest of your life. It all comes down to having a fitness and nutrition program specifically designed for your body, and created by a qualified fitness trainer. Whether you are looking to gain lean mass, lose weight, or repair an injury, I have all the experience necessary to create you the program that will achieve your goals.

Having food menus created by an experienced Fitness Trainer and specifically designed for your body is critical to the fat loss process! Weight training and cardio are really only about 30% of what it takes to achieve your goals. The most important part is what you are eating. Knowing the exact amount of calories, carbohydrates, protein and fat your body needs for maintenance, weight loss, and to gain lean mass.

Unlike a lot of fitness trainers out there, I have many years experience designing menus for specific body types and fitness goals. Having an easy to understand menu that you can follow everyday really helps you stay on track and not over eat, or under eat.

Bonded Cleaners

Bonded Cleaners & Laundry, a longtime San Clemente cleaning and spot removal business has expanded to Dana Point. The business' San Clemente location has been voted Best Cleaners in the the San Clemente Times "Best of San Clemente" issue since 2007, and the owners are hoping to leave a similar legacy in their new location. Open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Bonded Cleaners & Laundry's prime location on Pacific Coast Highway in the Dana Point Lantern District makes it easily accessible.
