I attended a wonderful event honoring former Delegate Don Elliott who served the citizens of Carroll County for 28 years in the Maryland General Assembly. It was a privilege to celebrate Don's induction into the New Windsor Hall of Fame, with former Delegate Nancy Stocksdale, and many others. Don was not only a great public servant, but a great friend.
Thank you for your years of service Don!
The Freedom District Lions Club hosted States Attorney Brian DeLeonardo at our bi-monthly meeting. Carroll County, along with the rest of the nation, has been experiencing an increase in heroin/opiate overdoses. Brian discussed the efforts being made by the States Attorney's office to engage students and encourage them to make good life choices regarding to drugs and alcohol.
The States Attorney's office is sponsoring drug awareness seminars in our high schools which focus on opiate prevention, teen support, and creating an awareness of prescription and heroin addiction and overdoses.
Below is a link to a list of frequently asked questions related to drugs and alcohol.

Hogan's Regulatory Reform Commission
One of Governor Hogan's top priorities is to reduce the out-of-control regulations that are hindering job creation in the state. He appointed Washington County Business Leader, Blackie Bowen, to head the commission. He is doing a fantastic job.
Also, the commission is still accepting testimony online. If you have any suggestions to help reduce the bureaucracy and improve Maryland's Business Climate, please go to http://governor.maryland.gov/ltgovernor/home/regulatory-reform/
What an AWESOME video! USA....USA.....USA
Most people are not aware that a secret service agent dressed as an umpire
the night President Bush threw out the pitch during the 2001 World Series
at Yankee Stadium. Great story!! I'm surprised that none of the news reporters
ever picked up on the "stranger" in the umpire's uniform.
Remember this was just after 9/11...This is our country at one of its best moments.
If you don't do anything else today just watch this...it's great!
