Kickoff Champagne Brunch - February 7


So much fun awaits you on February 7 at the 2015 Kickoff Champagne Brunch!  What could be better?  Great food, champagne, plenty of golf prizes and a special item opportunity.  The special opportunity item is a set of Nike Irons valued at $800 donated by Del Sayles-Owen.  Del received these irons from EWGA for her recruitment of the Cohn-Reznick group and she wants to "play" it forward to her EWGA friends in Sacramento.

We met at the Orchard Course at Lincoln Hills.  It was High Fog for a while and then finally the sun came out.  No wind, though.  The game was "Dots and Putts".  You get a dot for each drive that lands in the fairway and you count your putts.  At the end of the day add up your putts and take away your dots to get a net score.  We had scores ranging from 22 to 39!! We thought the greens were challenging, to say the least.  Some fast, some slow, all rippley!

 

The winners of $25 gift certificates at Haggin Oaks were Belinda Kendle and Jeanne Hoffman with net scores of 22.  Vicky Philpot, Fran Brolin and Betty Lou Beyer were Second place winners at 24 and each took home a sleeve of Callaway balls. 

 

Based on the number of times our 4some were in the water, out of bounds and in the sand, we should have played Animal Golf!

 

Next week we play David and Goliath at Teal Bend.

Long Time Member Needs Some Cheering Up
Long time member Joyce Doiron has had a set back and has returned to Kaiser for a stay.  Joyce returned to golf this year after a battle with cancer and is fighting the fight again.  She could use some cheering up!  

Cards to her home will be delivered by her husband to her and I'm sure will be greatly appreciated.  Her home address is listed in our Membership Directory.  
Tuesday Golf 
Sharon Blume is the Tuesday "Day" Golf organizer.  It's casual and always fun. If you are interested in playing "Tuesday Golf" you need to contact Sharon by Monday a week before the Tuesday you want to play.  For example, contact Sharon on Monday the 1st.  She would make reservations on Tuesday the 2nd for the following Tuesday.  The time of play is around 10:00 a.m. and is at a different course every week.  If you're interested or have questions, contact Sharon Blume.  
EWGA Par 3 Challenge
Looking for an excuse to escape winter?  Well, maybe not escape our California great winter weather, but EWGA has a Par 3 Challenge that sounds like fun!

Grab a friend (a guy or gal - member or non-member) and travel south this spring to compete in this fun 2-person best ball event.  There are two opportunities coming up right around the corner in February:  Savannah, GA, on the 17th or Fort Worth, TX, on the 20th.  Can't escape that fast?  How about San Diego March 11th or Scottsdale, AZ March 29th?  Don't feel like traveling as far - there are 5 other locations in April and May and you can pick any one you'd like!  For more information and the full schedule visit the Par 3 Challenge website.  Treat yourself to some EWGA fun in the sun!
