PORTION OF FARRINGTON HIGHWAY TO REOPEN
 

 

Good news for motorists traveling into town from Leeward Oahu.

HART and its contractor Kiewit plan to reopen Farrington Highway in Kapolei and Ewa to eastbound traffic next week.

Beginning next Thursday, January 29, Farrington Highway between Kualakai Parkway and Old Fort Weaver Road will be open to eastbound motorists from 5:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The westbound lane will remain closed 24/7, and the eastbound lane will be closed from       7:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. weeknights so construction crews can continue working on the rail guideway.

That portion of the highway has been completely closed to traffic for the past three months. HART asks motorists to please drive safely through the area.

The HART Board of Directors has scheduled meetings for next week.

 

The meetings are planned for Thursday, January 29 and will be held in Kapolei at Kapolei Hale Conference Room B. Kapolei Hale is located at 1000 Uluohia Street.

 

The schedule is as follows:

 

9:00 a.m. - Transit Oriented Development Committee

9:30 a.m. - Finance/Project Oversight Committees

10:00 a.m. - Board of Directors

 

All HART Board meetings are open to the public. If you require special assistance,

                       RAIL TO BE FEATURED ON "SUNRISE"
          
 
HART Executive Director and CEO Dan Grabauskas will be among the guests next Thursday morning as the Hawaii News Now morning show "Sunrise" broadcasts from atop the rail guideway on the Ewa plain.
 
The Sunrise On the Road feature will be broadcast beginning at 4:30 a.m. and will include several segments about the Honolulu rail transit project.

H-1 FREEWAY WAIAWA INTERCHANGE

Two eastbound lanes and one westbound lane of the H-1 Freeway near the H-1/H-2 merge will be closed Sunday night through early Friday morning between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. 

 

EWA (FARRINGTON HIGHWAY)

Farrington Highway between Kualakai Parkway (North-South Road) and Old Fort Weaver Road will remain closed in both directions until Thursday, January 29. Beginning Thursday, Farrington Highway eastbound will be open from 5 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and closed weeknights from 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. The westbound lane will remain closed 24/7.

 

WAIPAHU (FARRINGTON HIGHWAY)

One eastbound lane of Farrington Highway will be closed weeknights between 7 p.m. and 

6 a.m. from Waipahu Depot Street to Mokuola Street and from Mokuola Street to Awamoku Street, as will the outside lanes from Leoku Street to Leokane Street. In addition, one eastbound lane from Mokuola Street to Paiwa Street as well as the inside lanes from Leoku Street to Leokane Street will be closed weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. 

 

Left turns will be restricted at Moloalo Street and at the Paiwa Street intersections.

 

PEARL CITY (KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY)

The westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway near Waiawa Road and the entrance to Leeward Community College will be closed weeknights between 7 p.m. and 
6 a.m. Traffic will be contraflowed. Ala Ike Street fronting Leeward Community College will also be closed during those days and times. Drivers will be detoured through the campus parking lot.

Two eastbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway from Puu Poni Street to Kaahumanu Street will be closed between 12:01 a.m. Saturday, January 24 and 6 p.m. Sunday, January 25 for a city sewer line replacement project. Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway between Puu Poni Street and Kaonohi Street will be closed weeknights between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. and two eastbound lanes will be closed between 
7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Traffic will be contraflowed. One eastbound lane near the HECO-Waiau power plant and one eastbound lane fronting Neal Blaisdell Park will be closed 24/7. 

 

Alternate lane closures along Kaluamoi Place will take place weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.  One lane will remain open at all times.

 

AIEA (KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY)

One eastbound lane of Kamehameha Highway from Lipoa Place to Pali Momi Street near the Pearl Kai Shopping Center and one near McGrew Point will be closed 24/7. Two westbound lanes between Pali Momi Street and Honomanu Street will be closed weeknights between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. and two eastbound lanes will be closed between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. 

Two westbound lanes of Kamehameha Highway near Aloha Stadium will be closed weeknights between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Two eastbound lanes in the same area will be closed between 7 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. 

PEARL HARBOR/AIRPORT AREA
One westbound lane of Kamehameha Highway from Center Drive to Radford Drive and the left-turn lane onto Radford Drive will be closed weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The right-turn lane onto Kamehameha Highway from Makalapa Drive will be closed weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

One eastbound and one westbound lane of Nimitz Highway at the intersection of Aolele Street will be closed weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. One eastbound and westbound lane of Kamehameha Highway near Gaspro will be closed weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
