It's Your Venice -- Get Involved!
Tue., Sep. 15:  Board of Officers Meeting
Your Neighborhood Council Board of Officers will hold its monthly meeting Tuesday, September 15 at 7:00 pm.

President Mike Newhouse will preside. The Board will hear motions regarding short term rentals, street vending and numerous other issues.  

The agenda will also include land use proposals and the Treasurer's report on August expenditures.

CD11:  Short-Term Rental Regulations Advance
On August 26, the Council's Planning and Land Use Management Committee considered the motion Mike authored with Council President Herb Wesson 
to  regulate short-term rentals in Los Angeles by distinguishing "good" short-term rentals from "bad" short-term rentals.

The proposal would allow residents to share their own homes, while stopping commercial property owners from taking units of the rental market, operating rogue hotels in residential neighborhoods, and worsening our affordable housing crisis.

CM Bonin's Opinion Letter re: Safe Havens for Homeless
In recent years, Los Angeles has seen more progress in combating homelessness than it ever has - yet the problem is still getting worse.

Since 2011, the region has housed more than 23,000 people - a record number even by national standards. Yet homelessness is on the rise. Encampments are proliferating in our neighborhoods throughout the city. There are villages of tents on sidewalks from Venice to Van Nuys, and shantytowns in neighborhoods from Skid Row to San Pedro.

How is this possible? And how can we fix it?

BE A HERO TO OUR HOMELESS HEROES

"Homes for Heroes" is a program to engage our landlord community to rent to our veterans. The resource we are using to house our veterans is called the Veterans Assistance for Supportive Housing or VASH.VASH provide homeless veterans with a long-term rental subsidy and supportive services so that the veteran retains and succeeds in housing. The City has over 1,000 VASH vouchers to house homeless veterans in 2015.

Call for Artists - Power of Art

Sign Up for Emergency Alerts

Los Angeles County has implemented an emergency mass notification system that will be used to contact County residents and businesses via recorded phone messages, text messages or e-mail messages in case of emergency.  The system, called Alert LA County, will be used by the County's Emergency Operations Center to notify residents and businesses of emergencies or critical situations.
