All Month Long
Check Out Hunger, throughout Long Island - Donate $1, $3 or $5 to Long Island Cares at the cash register when you go shopping!  Find a participating supermarket near you. 

Host A Halloween Food Drive, Your Home or Workplace - Ask guests to you Halloween party or haunted house to bring a non-perishable food donation!  Register for boxes here.
 
Long Island Cares' Coat Drive - Donate a new or gently used coat to help keep Long Islanders in need warm during the cold months!  Men's coats are highly needed.  Blankets are also being accepted!  Click the link for requirements and drop off locations.
Annual Otto the Ghost Food Drive, Hicks Nursery in Westbury - Donate all month long, and end the drive with the Pet Parade (info below)!

GoHealth/North Shore LIJ First Coat Drive, these GoHealth locations - Drop off a gently used winter coat now, to help us make sure they get to those in need before the temperatures drop!  Please make sure all coats are washed/dry cleaned and without rips, tears or stains before donating.

Canned Fruits & Vegetable Drive, All Long Island Cares locations - Help us gear up for Thanksgiving by donating canned fruits and veggies now! 
  
School Supplies Drive, Long Island Cares - Help us make sure that children in need on Long Island start the school year prepared!
  
Exit Family Realty Canned Vegetable Drive, 202 N. Wellwood Ave Lindenhurst - Bring a can of veggies to donate now trough the end of September!

Thanksgiving Food Drive Registration - Call 631-582-3663 ext. 113 to register for a Thanksgiving Food Drive - spots fill quickly!

Goodman Physical Therapy PC Food Drive, 400 West Main Street Suite 340 in Babylon - Drop off a donation!

Saturday, October 3 -  Women's Conference & Expo, Brookhaven Town Hall in Farmingville - Stop by our info booth and learn about our programs.


Sunday October 4 - No Pet Goes Unfed, Inc. Pet Food Drive, Pet Valu in Plainview - Bring along a donation of pet food! 

 

Sunday, October 4 - Oktoberfest Street Fair, Wellwood Ave, Lindenhurst - Stop by our booth to pick up some unique merchandise (all proceeds benefit the food bank!), learn about what we do, or drop off non-perishable food donation!

  

Week of October 5th
Wednesday, October 7  - Communication and Interview Skills Workshop, Brentwood Library in Brentwoo - Join us from 1 PM to 2:30 AM!
 
Wednesday, October 7 - #HarryLivesOn Tweetchat - Join us for our monthly tweetchat with the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida about Harry Chapin's life and legacy! This month we're chatting about world hunger.  Follow us today to join the conversation!

Friday, October 9 - All Star John Lennon Birthday Celebration - Liverpool Shuffle Concert, 89 North Music Venue in Patchogue - Drop a non-perishable food donation off at our info booth! The event kicks off at 8:30 PM.
  
Week of October 12th
Tuesday, October 13 - Resume and Cover Letter Writing Workshop, Longwood Public Library - Join us from 7 PM to 8:30 PM.

Saturday, October 17 - " Stuff A Truck" for Thanksgiving, King Kullen in Mount Sinai - Another chance to fill a truck with our most needed holiday food items!  10 AM to 7 PM.

Saturday, October 17 - Organization for Open Mic Performing Artists Annual Coat Drive, O'Reilly's in Oakdale - Donate a gently used coat between 2 and 6 PM to help Long Islanders in need stay warm as the temperatures drop.

Saturday, October 17 - Halloween Home Haunters of Long Island - The Viking Graveyard Haunted House Begins, 3964 William Street, Seaford NY 11783 - Visit with food drive donations! Donations will be accepted all month long, but the haunted house event is available October 17, 18, 24, 25, 31 only. Moderately scary.
  
Week of October 19th
Monday, October 19 - "Sponsor A McDonald's" Food Drive, all McDonald's locations in Nassau and Suffolk Counties - Volunteer to transport boxes, assist in food collection, or deliver donations to Long Island Cares!  Reserve your McDonald's site today! Email [email protected] for more information.

Tuesday, October 20th - Town of Huntington 14th Annual Town Women's Networking Day, Larkfield Manor in Northport - Stop by our information table between 11 AM and 3 PM.

Wednesday, October 21 - Otto the Ghost Pet Parade Hicks Nursery in Westbury - Bring your pets to Hicks Nursery for their first ever pet parade! Travel a decorated path to meet Otto the Ghost, participate in the pet costume competition, donate pet food, new toys, cat litter, leashes and other items to Long Island Cares for local pets in need. Join us from 5 PM to 6:30 PM.

 

Friday, October 23 - Mega Job Fair, Nassau Community College - Stop by our info booth for details on our programs! The event opens to veterans at 9 AM, and opens to the general public at 10 AM.

 

Saturday, October 24 - Halloween House Haunters of Long Island - The Cemetery Of Lost Souls Haunted House, 350 Broadway, Massapequa Park - Available October 24th, 25th, 31st only! Visit with food donations! Children only during the day, but very scary at night.
  
Week of October 26th
Tuesday, October 27 -  Suffolk County  Department of Labor Job Fair Longwood Public Library in Middle Island - Stop by our info both between 10 AM and 1 PM to learn how we can help Long Islanders in need find and prepare for employment.

Friday, October 30 - Canstruction Long Island  Exhibit Opens, RXR Plaza in Uniondale - Come see creative sculptures representing the problem of hunger on Long Island and in the world, made entirely of cans of food.  All cans used will be donated to Long Island Cares. Admission is one can of food, which will be also be donated to LIC.
