Nominees Announced

CRC is pleased to announce the 2015 slate of nominees for the Awards of Excellence. 

CRC Awards of Excellence event is Wednesday, October 28th at Ramada Downtown. Luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m. followed by the Learning Summit at 1:45 p.m. The theme of the program is Art Deco, we encourage attendees to dress in 1920s attire. Event will feature 1920s themed photo booth, themed radio show in partnership KTWU, and themed gift for all attendees.

Tickets for both the Awards of Excellence and the Learning Summit are $60 per person. Tickets for the Awards of Excellence ONLY are $50 per person. Tickets and more info available here

CRC's Education Series is back

CRC's October  Education Events:

Thursday October 22, 9:00 am - 1:00pm FREE Quickbooks Training Coffee Bar and Lunch is included. Workshop will take place at Avondale East NET Center, 455 SE Golf Park Blvd, Topeka KS 66605. Co-Sponsor for this event is Kathleen Urbom. SEATING IS LIMITED. RSVP by October 20.

Wednesday October 28, 1:45 pm - 4:30 pm Learning Summit - $10. This half day event includes two sessions and tea/ cookie break. Event location is Ramada Downtown - 420 SE 6th Ave, Topeka KS 66607. For more info or tickets contact Emma Starkey.

Meet the new interns 

Jenny Lieurance is the new Communications Intern.  Jenny is originally from Emporia, KS, and is sophomore at Washburn University, majoring in Communication minoring in Leadership. Jenny is part of the Washburn University 
 
LinC/Bonner Leadership Program  - a national service scholarship program supported by the  Bonner Foundation She is involved in many organizations such as the Leadership Institute where she holds the K-12 team leader position on the Student Leadership Council. 

Jenny enjoys watching Netflix, biking, hanging out with friends and family, and listening to music. Her personal goals for this internship are to learn more about herself, her community, and how she can make a difference.

Maren Peterson is the new Operations Coordinator Intern.  She was born and raised in Osage City and attended Osage City High School. She is a freshman at Washburn University, majoring in Business Management with a certificate in Entrepreneurship. Maren is part of the Community Service Washburn Transformational Experience (WTE) which is a program that involves students in a variety of different organizations around the community.

Outside of work and school, Maren enjoys cheering for Washburn University at football and basketball games, reading, and spending time with her siblings. Her personal goals for this internship are to get experience in a successful place of business and learn more about the tremendous work of non-profits in the local community.

CRC currently has three interns who will be part of the team for an extended internship and will be working with the CRC members and the community for several years to come.
United Way of Greater Topeka Deadlines

United Way of Greater Topeka 2016 Basic Needs RFP is now availableProposals are due no later than noon on November 2nd.

United Way of Greater Topeka 2015 Fall Board Leadership training sessions are October 6, 8,13, and 15 all from 6 pm to 8:30 pm.  Participants must attend all sessions. The cost is $35. To register click here.
Avondale East NET Center- Event Dates and FREE Flu Shots

Friday October 2, 5:00 pm - 7:30 pm the City of Topeka and CRC will be hosting Family Fun Night including "Touch a Truck" and FREE flu shots for Hi-Crest residents, sponsored by Walgreens at 29th and California. Event will be held at the Avondale East NET Center - 455 SE Golf Park Blvd, Topeka, KS 66605

Thursday October 29, 6:00 pm Trunk or Treat will feature candy and carnival games for kids.  FREE flu shots will be available, sponsored by Walgreens at 29th and California.  Event will be held at the Avondale East NET Center.
