Great Weekend Ahead, Great Weekend Behind

In honor of Flag Day and the 4th of July, last weekend Bill DeSteph and over 100 volunteers placed more than 11,000 American flags in neighborhoods all across the 8th Virginia Senate District.

Honoring our nation's flag and the men and women who have served our country is a great way to spend any weekend and we would like to thank everyone for the time and energy expended to help us achieve this goal. Of course, we owe special gratitude to all of the men and women, past, present, and future, who serve our nation and have carried our flag to bring peace, liberty, and relief to those in need.

Fireworks This Weekend

fireworks-summer.jpg If your family would like to see a great fireworks display, there is no other place better than Virginia Beach to see all the fireworks anyone could want in one holiday weekend.

Not only will there be fireworks at several locations at the oceanfront this year, but as always there will be an amazing fireworks display at Mount Trashmore in a safe, fun, and family-friendly environment.

Please be aware that using fireworks at your home or in your neighborhood is against the law within the City of Virginia Beach and each year, hundreds of accidental fires and personal injuries are caused by illegal fireworks. So please, make yours a safe, fun-filled holiday weekend and leave fireworks to the professionals.

What Else is Happening?

The annual Fil-Am Friendship Day celebration takes place on Saturday, July 4th at Redwing Park in Virginia Beach. If you want a fun time with music, great food, dance, and a parade, this event has it all!

Admission is free and this event is open to the public.

There are games, face-painting for the kids, vendors offering goods and services to the public, as well as the warm friendship of our Fil-Am community. You won't want to miss this event, so get there early and enjoy it all day long!

Drive Safe, Drive Rested, Drive Sober

With a long holiday weekend ahead, we may try to pack too much activity into too little time. Many folks might get off of work early and try to drive all night to get somewhere, some might mix alcohol and either cars or watercraft while others might be in such a hurry that they take unnecessary chances behind the wheel.

This holiday weekend is yours to enjoy, so don't stress yourself by trying to do too much or make mistakes that can have far-reaching and sometimes life-altering consequences.

However you choose to celebrate this weekend, play it safe, play it sober and make this a weekend to remember, not one that you could regret.

If You're Staying Home

A long holiday weekend is a great opportunity to get those projects off the ground or completed, but sometimes, we overdo it in the warm weather and end up in an emergency room with heat exhaustion or worse, heat stroke.

Hospital emergency rooms also see a marked increase in home-related accidents that range from slip and falls, fractures or lacerations from activities ranging from cooking to construction accidents. So whatever you do this weekend, make sure to err towards caution and don't overdo it!

Holiday Parades

This weekend, Bill DeSteph and his campaign staff will be at Neighborhood 4th of July Parades in;
  • Bay Colony
  • Cape Story
  • Broad Bay
  • Alanton
  • Fil-Am Friendship Day
  • Mt. Trashmore 4th of July Celebration.

We will have Bill DeSteph T-Shirts and other campaign goodies to give away, so look for us and we will have something for you!

With Warmest Regards,
