Hancock Center for Dance/Movement Therapy

offers dance/movement therapy (DMT), health and wellness sessions, and verbal forms of therapy. DMT is an innovative form of psychotherapy that uses expressive movement to help people learn more about themselves and their relationships with others. Licensed dance/movement therapists help their clients develop a healthy self-image, communication skills, and emotional stability. Hancock Center is a non-profit organization. Sliding fee scale available for therapy services.

Mission:

Hancock Center provides and promotes the understanding and effective use of dance/movement therapy for the benefit of all segments of the population. Hancock Center extends its services through outreach trainings, workshops, and presentations. It is a supporting agency of the Marian Chance Foundation of the American Dance Therapy Association, Inc.

Feeling happy and grateful for recent good fortune!

July, 2015

We are honored to call the following organizations Hancock Center supporters and are thankful for their generosity-

The Magic Pebble Foundation granted Hancock Center $3,000 to help fund therapy services for low-income clients, both children and adults.

Hancock Center has also been approved for another year to receive $9,500 from the Madison Community Foundation Anonymous Field of Interest Fund for its In-School Violence Prevention program that is in the Madison area schools.

In June Slices Bar and Grill on the east side here in Madison hosted a fundraiser raffle which raised $485 that will go toward the Hancock Center scholarship program for all therapy clients receiving free or reduced rates for services. We are planning to make this an annual event--stay tuned for next year's raffle event in July!

Hancock Center staff are now providers for Comprehensive Community Services (CCS), a new program affiliated with Dane County Human Services (DCHS). DCHS has partnered with Community Partnerships Inc. to coordinate the Provider Network Development portion of the CCS program.

Rubin for Kids, Inc. awarded funds for a student of the Madison public elementary schools to receive individual therapy services at Hancock Center.

The Marian Chace Foundation of the American Dance Therapy Association has generously donated to Hancock Center the consulting services of dance/movement therapist Judith Fischer and professional consultant Peter Norlin for a two day strategic planning session with Hancock Center staff and board in order to help the Center move to the next level in strategic planning for the future.

Many thanks to each of these benefactors and collaborators and to all of our friends and supporters who continue to endorsed Dance/Movement Therapy and sustain our non-profit center.

Upcoming opportunity to give:

On October 14, 2015 in downtown Madison, locally-owned business Capitol Kids will give 15% of the day's revenue to the Hancock Center. This promotion is part of their fifteenth birthday celebration wherein they are promoting local non-profits through charitable giving. Stop in and support this local business and Hancock Center at the same time!
