Although most patients are aware of the financial implications of fertility treatment, many are not prepared for some of the social challenges.

A common question for many is whether they should tell friends, family and work colleagues about their fertility struggles and/or treatment. There is no wrong or right answer.

What you choose is ultimately up to you. Here are some considerations when making the decision to share or not to share.

Bundaberg IVF Lab News

Well it's exciting news from the Bundy team. The first IVF procedures took place on the 18th through 20th of May. The procedures are taking place at a local hospital, the Friendly's Society Private Hospital. It's taken a lot of organizing to get everything in place for our first group of couples with laboratory overhaul being one of the biggest challenges. Now, we are able to culture embryos, perform embryo transfers on site, and subsequently freeze and thaw embryos.

Every other month one of our lovely specialists from the Sunshine Coast will be travelling to Bundy to perform the egg collection procedures. They will also have appointments available for new and existing clients. Travelling with them, two of our experienced scientists will be making sure the best of care is provided to your embryos. The embryo transfers will be carried out by our very experienced and skilled clinic manager Denise Donati.

Hopefully this will make a huge difference for local couples in the Bundaberg and Wide Bay region. It also provides couples from the Gladstone and Rockhampton regions more choice, which we think you'll agree is always a good thing.

Don't forget though, BUNDABERG is not now all about IVF, we still offer people fertility advice and information, and if IVF is not needed, treatments such as ovulation induction and Intra Uterine Inseminations are still performed on site throughout the year. Also performed on site are ultra sound scans and semen analysis. All of this means a positive for you as travelling inconvenience is really kept to a minimum.

Perhaps you have given up on your dream of having a child or extending your family, or perhaps you have just not got round to taking those first steps, give us a call, things have just got a little easier for local couples.

One commonly noted positive is that often smaller clinics are able to offer a much more personalized level of service with treatments tailored for the individuals rather than a one model fits all approach.  Given that a couple's wish to have a baby is so personal and private, it is comforting knowing that smaller boutique clinics are often able to ensure that the same staff work with a couple who gets to know them and their partner, making the journey a little bit easier.

Many people have the idea that to receive medical care you need to go to the larger cities. With IVF, this couldn't be further from the truth. Irrespective of the size of the clinic, we all have to jump through the same industry standard hoops when it comes to accreditation and what is acceptable in terms of results. The science that is used in our laboratories is supported by evidence-based medicine every step of the way.

All the staff (nurses, doctors and scientists) have previously worked in fertility units with success rates on par with any of the major units around Australia, so we are confident that we can deliver success rates that are as good - if not better - than any other unit.

Up until now, Fertility Solutions Bundaberg has been privileged to have helped many couples realize their dream of having a baby and now we can say that we are making little miracles happen right here in Bundaberg.

Remember the first initial consultation with the nurse is free and we can now offer appointments from as early as 7.30am on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
