CAWA Leadership Commissions Two Important Task Forces
The first Task Force is the "Hispanic Recruitment" group which will identify methods to encourage Hispanic aftermarket business owners to join and participate in the Association. The second Task Force will concentrate on identifying select warehouse distributor representatives and incentivize them to attend CAWA leadership meetings to see for themselves what the Association is doing for its members and the auto care industry it serves. These Task Forces will report to the Board of Directors at their upcoming meeting on June 18th. Should you have any interest or comments regarding the work of these Task Forces, contact our President & CEO, Rodney Pierini at 800.332.2292, ext. 1 or [email protected].
Arizona Governor Signs Two Legislative Proposals Supported by CAWA
The first proposal was SB 1241 (Barto) - entitled Auxiliary Containers, Regulatory Prohibition, Reporting. This bill would prohibit a city, town or county from doing the following: requiring an owner, operator or tenant of a business, commercial building or multifamily housing property (business) to measure or report energy usage and consumption, including energy consumption benchmarking and building facility energy efficiency audits; imposing a tax, fee, assessment, charge or return deposit on a business; regulating the sale, use or disposition of auxiliary containers by a business, and the outlawing of plastic bags. It was signed by the governor and takes effect July 3, 2015. The second proposal, HB 2331 (Fann) - is entitled Workers Compensation, Fraudulent Claims, Forfeiture. This bill would hold individuals accountable for making false workers compensation claims, thereby protecting the integrity of the entire system for the benefit of both workers and employers alike. This bill, too, was signed by the governor and takes effect July 3, 2015. For further information or questions regarding these new laws, contact our Arizona based legislative advocate, Stuart Goodman at 602.617.5708 or [email protected].
The Association Will Participate in the National Performance Warehouse Show in May - it was Levin's Auto Supply Show in April
CAWA looks forward to participating in its members shows throughout the year. This is an opportunity to support the member and to visit in person with other members and prospective members that attend these shows. Should your company have an upcoming show and want CAWA to participate, please contact our President & CEO, Rodney Pierini at 800.332.2292, ext. 1 or [email protected].
