CATECHETICAL SUNDAY: This Sunday, September 20th at the 11:00 A.M. Mass we will recognize our teachers from both St. Teresa School as well as PSR at our annual Catechetical Sunday Mass. Please join us, and pray for the teachers, students, and our many school related functions. All students in grades
2-8 are encouraged to sing with the choir during Mass on this Sunday.
NEW FUNDRAISING EVENT(S): The teachers have decided not to have their trivia night this year, but still need to raise funds for their scholarships and other causes. Therefore, they will have monthly "dinner-out" nights at area restaurants to raise the needed funds. The first one of these events will be at Panera Bread (3120 Green Mount Crossing Drive, Shiloh, Il 62269) this Thursday, September 24th from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. Please consider joining us at the event that evening.
SCHOOL UNIFORMS: The students have done a very nice job with the School Spirit Fridays, but I wanted to give an update on an item that has caused some conversation. All socks must be either black and/or white only, and all other colors are not permitted. However, students will now be allowed to wear the taller socks (including elites) as long as they are black and/or white.
PARKING LOT: Please remember that there are children in the parking lots around the school, and drive safely as you are entering and leaving the school. If you are walking into school with your child in the morning please park in an actual parking spot, and do not stop in one of the two drop off lines. This will help alleviate any bottle necks that may occur. Thank you for your help with this situation.
BOOK FAIR: The Fall Book Fair is next week (Monday-Thursday) in the Parish Center. Family Night will once again be on Monday night, and students will visit the book fair during the day as well. Mrs. Fries is still in need of volunteers for set-up on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 and Thursday for clean-up at 3:00. There are other time slots available to volunteer for the event, which are listed on Mrs. Fries' website. Students will receive volunteer hours if they help with the book fair.
EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN SALE: The actual sale is Saturday, September 26th from 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. in the gymnasium. Drop off for the sale will be in the gymnasium on Thursday and Friday (Sept. 24-25) from 7:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. Do some fall cleaning and bring your old treasures to us!
GRIZZLIES STADIUM: What a fun event, and nice evening this was. The Twirlin' Tigers got things kicked off with an outstanding performance of their Disney routine. Mrs. Duncan does an outstanding job with this group of girls, and the girls continue to represent our school in a positive light. After the Twirlin' Tigers performance, the boys took the field for their game. The game was very close for most of the game, but unfortunately the score didn't end up our way. None the less, the boys and their coaches represented themselves well, and showed a great deal of sportsmanship throughout the contest. Great job by everyone who was involved that evening, and thank you to everyone who came out to support the students.
MIGHTY PAWNS CHESS TEAM: Information was sent home in the white envelope today in regard to the chess team and start dates. Mr. August will be organizing everything this year, and Mrs. Dunn will be collecting all permission slips and shirt orders.
FREE CONCERT: This Sunday evening at 7:00 P.M. Oddwalk Ministries is having a concert at St. Teresa Church. The concert is free to those in attendance, and should be an enjoyable event for everyone.

The Messenger
Please Note

The Messenger , our diocesan newspaper, has reached a point where there will not be enough money to meet budget needs to the end of the fiscal year ending in February. To avoid this shortfall and not raise the cost of the newspaper, The Messenger needs to increase subscriptions by 20 percent in each parish. Some parishes have reached and exceeded that number, but many, including St. Teresa, have not. We need an additional 135 subscribers to The Messenger. If the parish bears this expense, it would be $1890 that the parish would have to pay out for subscriptions until the annual renewal in February. Please consider subscribing today to The Messenger if you do not do so already! For only $14 you can have a subscription through February 2016. Please contact The Messenger Office at 618-233-8670 or [email protected] for more information or to subscribe.
