2015 Annual Dinner Celebration & Auction a Great Success
The SMA Foundation hosted its 17th Annual Dinner Celebration & Auction on July 2nd honoring Judge Joseph G. Will.
The night was a great success, raising over $137,000, moving the crowd with emotional testimonials, expanding community knowledge of SMA Behavioral Healthcare's Services, and...  of course, honoring Judge Will for his amazing work in our community.  

Judge Will's interest in and service to addicted and mentally ill persons involved in the justice system throughout his judicial career is unparalleled.  He holds a special place in the lives and hearts of those who have been in his courtroom.  Jonathan, Drug Court graduate, spoke at the event and expressed sincere appreciation for Judge Will's part in turning his life around.


 The crowd was moved with emotion by the stories shared by two young women who had been through BEACH House and RAP (Residential Adolescent Program) and offered standing ovations and support in response to the courage it took to share the details of their struggles and recovery.  

Sheriff Ben Johnson attended, leading the Pledge of Allegiance and presenting a $50,000 check to SMA.  The donation came from forfeiture funds approved by the Volusia County Council to be used for enhancing substance abuse services in the county.

The top live auction item was a beautiful handcrafted quilt made by the women at WARM, which brought in $2,500. Other items included FAST LAPS with Carl Edwards, a leather Daytona 500 jacket signed by Joey Logano, a Disney family weekend package, and a chef hosted dinner party for 8 prepared by SMA's very own  Kevin Gallagher,  ACF (American Culinary Federation) Chef.

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN UNVEILED
HUGER ADOLESCENT CAMPUS PROJECT

Carolyn Sentelik unveiled the Huger Adolescent Campus Project, a $500,000 capital campaign to upgrade and improve SMA's facilities at 3875 Tiger Bay Road, Daytona Beach.  The project includes a new home for BEACH House, upgraded classrooms,  and an overall college campus feel for the youth served at that site.  Proceeds from this year's dinner will go toward that project.
