China's yuan is no longer undervalued, says IMF

For more than a decade, China's taken a verbal beating from other countries for keeping its currency unfairly cheap. Those days might finally be over. The yuan (a.k.a. the renminbi) is no longer undervalued, the International Monetary Fund's Markus Rodlauer said earlier today, while also urging Chinese leaders to allow the currency to trade more freely.
The US government, however, disagrees.

Last week, Jacob Lew, the treasury secretary, held firm on his department's long-standing contention that China continues to repress the yuan's value.

Currency Revaluation 10 Useful Tips - Updated again!

Whether you currently own foreign currencies, such as the Iraqi Dinar and/or Vietnam Dong, or plan to, these and other countries revaluing their currencies are about to come to fruition. Here are 10 useful tips for you to consider post revaluation:

1 - Plan Ahead

Determine who, how, where, etc - everything, but when. Decide if you are going to exchange back through the institution in which you bought the currency. 

For instance, if you used XXX XXX.com (A Dealer) to purchase your Dinar or Dong currencies, it would be convenient to exchange back through them. It may be the fastest way to have access via wire transfer to the bank account of your choice.

It may not be making the headlines, but countries all over the world have been revaluing their currency for several decades or are about to, including China.

 [1] It is necessary whenever a country's economic profile changes drastically. Changes such as an increase in exports/imports, manufacturing, construction, natural resources discovered, and technological achievements are just a few reasons this has become necessary.

Most revaluations are a good investment

Typically during the revaluation period a country's currency is worth very little to nothing. It is in fact, the main reason a currency is revalued. So buying currency in countries such as Vietnam, Mexico, Myanmar, and Iraq during a revaluation is a 99% sure bet to make money off your investment.

This is due to the natural increase or 'worth' to a country's currency after it is revalued. However, I am surprised how many people are ignorant about investing in currency and/or respond with "It's probably a scam."

I stopped in my local WF branch today to deposit some money in the account .

While at the teller there was a conversation behind the counter about currency exchange.

 I commented "We don't do currency exchanges."  The teller said "OH YES WE DO."  I said "Since when".  She said "since the first of the month."  I said "Bet you don't do mine"  to which she commented "Maybe not there were several that were suppose to have revalued last wednesday but they did not because of a computer glitch."  (HAHA).  

She then asked what currency i had.  She looked them up, the Dinar and Zim were NOT LISTED...  The Dong and Rupiah were listed but no price showing "it said call for rates."  She also said they had just received a MEMO to be looking for something this afternoon or early in the morning...

JUST a STORY...  But my bank has always said it was a scam and denied it happening until now..

Bond Coins Are Vital for Zim - RBZ Boss

The introduction of bond coins was a "confidence-building measure" after the hyper-inflationary and pre-dollarisation era's "financial trauma", Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) governor John Mangudya has said.

The Central Bank boss was speaking at an Institute of Chartered Accountants Zimbabwe (Icaz) breakfast meeting yesterday where he stated that a "measure of resistance" to the new initiative was anticipated.

"...it is an issue of trust and confidence. We are introducing the coins as a gradual measure to regain confidence and trust from the market, so yes resistance is very natural and expected, but let us not live in the past," Mangudya said.

Anal ysis|   The Curious Case of Zimbabwe's Bond Coins

The RBZ on December 5 2014 unveiled a set of coins that are planned to go into circulation tomorrow on December 18 2014. The coins will be in denominations of 1c, 5c, 10c and 25c pegged at par against the US Dollar and the 50c coin being introduced in Marchs 2015.

The premise of introducing these coins has been that they will aid the correct pricing of goods and services which is currently constrained by the absence of lower denominations. 

An example of current adverse pricing at work is that sometimes instead of being given change in USD in a grocery store, you might be given sweets in lieu of US cents which tend not to be available.
