Firstly, we would like to wish all our friends a very happy and joyous Ramadan.
With the international contemporary art now in full swing and memories of Art Basel still fresh in our minds, we look look forward to a packed programme of events, not least in London which is hosting the third edition of the
Shubbak Festival, starting on 11th July 2015.
We are delighted too to be featuring the well known Lebanese artist
Hanibal Srouji as our artist of the month. As usual, you can read the interview about him and check out his new works, showcased exclusively in the newsletter. As we continue to grow and develop, we welcome Russian artists
Igor & Marina onto our roster of artists.
Don't miss our new monthly
Art Advisory / Art Market section, which this month looks at the often neglected but vitally important role which insurance plays in the art world.
Lastly, we are thrilled to announce that Janet Rady is now the Middle East Consultant at
International Art Consultants, whose clients include the Emirates Investment Bank and a Global Financial Services Company in Doha.
If you are heading off on vacation soon, have a great time!

ARTIST OF THE MONTH: FOCUSING ON HANIBAL SROUJI
|
The open space in Hanibal Srouji's works refers directly to what he used to perceive as a child. Fog seems to continue to materialize and transform in an abundance of shape and form engulfing in his work as this open space... childhood memories are at the heart of his artistic production...

Is it possible to achieve liberation and a sense of freedom through the creative process? How? "When an artist has come to grips with the means of production technically and visually, when the work is highly personal and genuine, when everything in the composition of the artwork is an absolute necessity and relates to meaning and when we embark, as viewers, on a challenging journey, then I believe, yes, art is a liberating act..." Extract from Testimonials
"Hanibal Srouji sait ce ? quoi il veut aboutir, non avec la violence agressive d'un conqu?rant orgueilleux de ses dons, mais avec le tranquille ent?tement que donne la connaissance de ses moyens. D'ailleurs, il semble bien qu'il ne cherche jamais ? atteindre une perfection m?canique. Il y a toujours chez lui une forme de libert? qui donne ? la plupart de ses ?uvres une apparence d'improvisation, non affect?e; elle est tout simplement voulue."

ART ADVISORY / THE ART MARKET
|
Fine Art Insurance is not, let's face it, often the subject of dinner party conversation. It does however play a vitally important role in protecting one's property, whether you are a collector or a gallerist or artist. We have gathered a selection of articles and features which look at the reasons why one should obtain specialist cover for works of art and what happens when your art gets damaged or stolen. |
