Dear Friends,

My garden is going wild right now.  It's the season when, if I look in the morning and then look again at night, I might see plants that have grown six inches.  Anyone who thinks that growth is slow and steady and consistent should garden-you'd see that plants can look as if they're never going to budge, and then, when the conditions are right, POW!!!! They're like Jack and the Beanstalk!

CLF is going wild, too!  As we work to integrate new staff members, imagine future directions, and plan for life after the retirement of Lorraine Dennis (our trusty Executive Director, she who holds it all together behind the scenes), we're also more excited daily about all of the opportunities that General Assembly will offer, both to people who show up physically and to people who come via their computers and devices.

'Going wild' is fun when a certain amount of what is wild is under your control.  In my garden, though I can't guarantee that any plant will grow, I can certainly do my darndest to make sure that some plants don't.  That's not to say that I always get my way.  Some of my plants are so tenacious that I dig them up year after year and they keep thumbing their little green noses at me and coming right back!  (Nodding to you, horseradish.  And that one weed whose name I don't even know.)

Some of you, I know, are in circumstances far less under your control.  Emails from CLF folks in Texas, where there is extreme flooding, or in California, where there is drought, remind me each day how lucky I am that (for now) my weather is mostly cooperative.  And that could change any minute, needless to say!

I hope that wherever you are, chaos and creativity interact with order and control in just the way you like.  Failing that, may you find a breath, find company, remember we're there with you!

Warmly

Yours,
