Taxisharing Arrives at LaGuardia

To help increase taxi availability for Logo Bandwagon Taxishare LaGu ardia customers during peak travel ti mes, the Port Authority is partnering with Bandwagon, a smart taxi-sharing technology and logistics startup that allows airport customers to share taxis.

As part of a one-year pilot program, Bandwagon is providing curbside service at two locations at Terminal B initially on Thursdays and Fridays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Sundays 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. Bandwagon's technology enables travelers who are heading in the same direction to find each other and jump to a rideshare priority line.

According to the company, itineraries have a 20 percent cap on route diversion, so passengers won't go out of their way when sharing a ride. The service helps passengers to save money and reduce carbon emissions.

Bandwagon Taxishare will be available in the coming weeks at LaGuardia's Terminal C.

New Amenity for Nursing Mothers

The Port Authority of NY &NJ Photo of a freestanding nursing station
is providing free, private suites
at LaGuardia
and Newark Liberty International airports to make travel easier for nursing mothers. The airports are among the first in the U.S. to offer freestanding stations that provide a clean, comfortable and secure place for women who want to nurse in privacy or use a breast pump.

Created by Mamava (Spanish for "mother on the go"), the suites feature benches, outlets, a fold-down table and power supply, as well as space for luggage or a stroller. When the door is closed, the unit can be locked from the inside and an "occupied" message will be displayed on the outside.

The units are sponsored by Seventh Generation, a manufacturer and distributor of environmentally safe household products. At Newark's Terminal B, one suite is located in the B2 concourse near gates 50-57, and another is in the B3 concourse near gates 60-68. LaGuardia's suite is in Terminal B, Concourse A. The Port Authority expects to install additional suites in the future.
Summer Parking Savings

Through September 9, 2015, there are multiple ways to save on parking at John F. Kennedy International and Newark Liberty International.

Catching a flight from JFK? Park on the airport where there are two great deals. For every five days of parking at the full daily rate in the Red Lot, $9 per day will be deducted -- a total of $45 off the usual rate. To get to your airline terminal, take AirTrain. The service is free for on-airport travel and makes frequent stops.

If you prefer to park in the airport's Long-Term Lot 9, you'll save $2 on every $18 spent.
Take AirTrain free from Lefferts Blvd. or Howard Beach Station to the terminals.

Customers at Newark Liberty can also save in two ways: get $4 off every $24 spent at the maximum daily rate in the airport's Daily Parking Lots P1 and P3. Park in the Economy Lot P6 and get $2 off every $18 spent at the maximum daily rate. Free courtesy shuttles are available at P6 for travel to the terminals.

Every time you park on-airport, free Customer Care services, like a jump-start, are available. And the rates are all-inclusive -- there are no hidden fees.
